KW, like it or lump it mate, these are the people who run the site so about time you respected that,

I have no issue with the rules, and I also have no issue when Admin constantly tell us how democratic and PC the place is going to be (ok, I lie...I don't do PC)

What I do have a problem with though is when the very rules Admin tell us we must live by are broken on a daily basis and nothing is done.

Now if you had read the whole thread, you would have noticed that I pointed out that one search produced no less than 15 seperate results (15 is the max search number) of posts where there is content that is racist.

I don't know about you, but in my world I'd say that racism comes way above the list of priorities when compared to words that you have been programmed to believe are offensive.

My father used to have a saying - "don't do as I do, do as I say" - I'm sure you can see the flaw in that.

I totally agree with you as a matter of fact on the first point and believe that they are doing it that way in order to avoid forcibly banning people, maybe an example should be set by banning whichever member crosses the line next...........??

On the second point, I did read this whole thread and whilst I dont care about foul language on here (doesnt bother me, I work in a male environment and hear it 24.7) I do think anything racial is far more threatening and has far greater implications not only for the posting member, but also for admin.

Believe it or not that is how the police work in our modern society as well.  A vast number of laws are broken on a regular basis and nothing is done about it - in fact it is clear that a blind eye is deliberately turned because you can bring things to their attention and they give a convoluted reason for not pursuing it.  When it's the law in question, I think it is wholly inappropriate to not enforce as a matter of policy.

Web forums are a whole different matter and are moderated according to the resources and opinions of the owners and moderators - that's what gives the forums character.

I fully support the standards that are  imposed and the relatively hands-off way in which they are enforced on OOF.  When you use a light-handed enforcement you have to look out for those whose heads are repeatedly appearing above the parapet and take sharper action to prevent the spread of the misdemeanours - especially if they are carried out "with attitude".  This may look unfair but is the only practical way to apply the rules in a relaxed way.  It's like yellow cards in football and 9 points on the driving license, they both show you have history and are probably not learning from the generosity previously afforded.

FWIW: My 0.02GBP-worth...  I appreciate the gesture towards removal of foul language on the site and don't consider it macho or broad-minded to pretend otherwise.

As I said at the beginning of this thread, I don't read every single thread.  Most of them are as tedious and boring as this one, and I have far more interesting things to do.

So some get missed. Live with it.


Nobody is 'picking' specifically on you, though I will admit that, given your history, you're threads probably get checked more than other members who mostly have managed to fall within our guides.

This kind of thing seems to be popping up alot now, the PC conversation. What ever any one says or does could so easily offened any one but people of sane mind just move on i know theres history with kw but he was just showing every one that wanted to look at a deal to save people money and i dont care how its worded if its going to save me money. What a boring place this would be if every one was dull and didnt have a laugh. I know i dont post alot but i do come on here quite a bit a just read the post and it does put a smile on my face when im at work and surely the general discussion area is for such posts. Come on guys all the things that are going on in the world a comment like that is not going to harm anyone.

I think everyone has spilled the beans more than enough.. And I think it effects the forum on the negative side..Members start to debate with each other solving nothing and causing further problems..
