got it but haven't got a playstation!! (wife works for Sony in the playstation games department!) I have slowly collected about 6 games which I can't play!!

so far:

GT5
F1 2010
Assassins creed brotherhood
ufc2009 undisputed
red faction guerilla
pro evo soccer 2011
i had call of duty black ops but sold it to a mate! oh and kingdom hearts birth by sleep which is on psp platform

Am i the only one thinks ps3 games, good as ther are, are crap when compare to xbox games?

not played gt5 and probably wont be buying it without a test drive first. But all the ps3 games feel detached by comparison, or is it me?

Look forward to trying gt5, but if other fony driving games are anything to go buy with the way the cars handle, then I can't see ot being better than Forza.... Not by a long way.

Not sure how to quantify a cars handling in computer game, but I prefer xbox so far. I do think Fony have a better console over all though. Web browser, blu Ray etc.

To be honest, my son really doesn't use his PS3, his Xbox is on whenever he fancies a game though. He's always said, he just can't get into the games on the PS3, don't know why mind you. Personally and I don't know a lot about consoles I do think the Xbox is better.

Comes down to the games and also what controller layout you are used to.

If you are used to PS2 controller the PS3 feels natural.

As to games exclusives

Xbox360 has Halo, Gears of War, Fable, Forsa as its main franchises.

PS3 has Killzone, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Restistance, Motorstorm, Gran Turismo, Rachet & Clank as its main ones.

It really comes down to Halo vs Uncharted at the two main big selling platforming games.

Just for fun Bungie (Halo) and Naughty Dog (UC) are great friends and play online together. ie ND programmers play Halo and Bungie programmers saying they would buy UC2 just for the multiplayer but they already had it.

I have to admit I am an addict for Uncharted 2 and play it most days, nearly level 58.

Finally if you want him to play the PS3 or you to play it, buy the Uncharted series of games, they are as good as they are hyped up to be.

I don't know about that - I've always been a PlayStation owner (since the PSX came out originally), yet somehow I found BioShock easier to play on the 360 (which was my first non-Sony console) and the controller easier to hold somehow.

having a 360 and a ps3, it all boils down to games - both consoles are good but playing online i think you'll find the 360 has slightly more hardcore gamers? maybe not...just my perception of plaing online a lot on both systems 

anyway as far as GT5 goes, I've barely scratched the surface so much too soon to see how it compares to the near perfect Forza3 (which I love and have set WR's on....OK 1 WR, but it lasted 3 days over a weekend )

If the games were better value for money then I would have all 3, still have the XBox, PS2 dreamcast etc

the Wii is lovely but never gets used 

I wouldn't worry too much about whether to get a 360 or PS3, most games are on both and look and play identically

Ooh me too! Bought one instead of a PS2 when the PS2 came out.. sadly my buying it appeared to kill the console stone dead about two months later

Also bought a black Wii earlier this year when they came out - used it half a dozen times and it hasn't been turned on since

Dreamcast was good Sue bought one about 11 years ago. It had SOME good games and a few naff games.

I can think of 3 good ones - but the GD ROM has failed.

Next console was a PS2 not too long after the slim one and price decrease.

Then we got a Wii - that never caught my attention, very few good games and lots of shovelware.

Most recent was a PS3 and that I do like playing.

Dreamcast was a great console - light years ahead of the PS2  Rez, Gotham Street Racer, Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, free online gaming....I could go on all day

Everybody will have a different view on which is the 'best' console. Everyone has different needs/tastes.

I'll be honest, the Wii gets more use than other consoles in our house, purely because its inclusive fun, not antisocial. Everyone joins in, everyone ends up rolling around the floor laughing.  This is where Nintendo have found their current niche.  If I'm honest, the games that come out most are the Sports and Sports Resort games, and of course Mario Kart.  Mrs TB likes the Wii Fit series, and the dance ones as well.

Our seXBOX actually gets the most use, but can't remember the last time it actually had a game disk inserted - its primary role for me is a MCE extender.  The games it has, to be honest, like the gayStation, are antisocial.  It would appear I have too many friends, too many hobbies, too many commitments and not enough time to sit around like a teenager for hours each night to scratch the surface of these games.

gayStation has nothing I would use. Like the seXBOX360, the games aren't for me. I have an MCE for playing films, and won't buy a Bluray player until Sony actually standardise the format, and to be honest would probably just upgrade the MCE instead.


So for me, I would say the Wii is the 'best' console for games, bizarre as that might sound

So has mine, sadly I tried to play Metropolis Street Racer a while back and it wouldn't read shame - I seem to recall it actually playing considerably better than PGR on the original XBox.
