Having been on very nearly from its birth, The forum definitely has changed - however I see that as a natural thing. It is definitely less personal but that is to be expected with 6000 members.

It is still a fantastic forum. Without it I would have given up on Omegas years ago.

Maybe and it is only a maybe some changes that could be made could include.

A section for "Over 18's" stuff and who better to moderate than Mr S.

A current affairs section moderated by who else than Mr Z or Ms L Z

An OOF lounge only open to forum members with say 1000 posts and only on approval from a Mod. That might be an area where people use their real names and things might be a bit more personal

This is the only other forum I go on every day. The "other" being a Spanish forum for Expats.

I think users could be more disciplined with headings. Instead of posting in general help "Yikes" they could say "Problems with spark plug leads". I have lost count of the number of times I have opened on my slow connection something only to find it wasn't of interest or appropriate.

:-?  Did you have a siesta once you got to 6000? ::)

Siempre!   ;D ;D ;D ;D

One of the previous car forums i went on had a small live chat box on the main screen for general conversations. Tbh it worked quite well

It was used as general chit chat whilst posting was taking place and keeping the Threads pretty much on topic.

We still had a general discussion area but if it really wasnt worth starting a whole thread on something it was quite useful.

for what its worth i think this is a pretty decent place , i'm a bit of a windup merchant when it comes to discussions etc , usualy choosing the least popular opinion on a topic and then trying to defend it , but i also try to have a laugh whilst doing it . In the short time i have been on this site i have been in complete disagreement with certain people on certain subjects , only to find that the next day on a different subject that we are in agreement , thats got to be pretty rare ? it is definately a fun place to be , as i said i don't do forums but i seem to find myself on here a lot of the time now and that speaks volumes to me  :y :y :y :y

It is a great place top be... No doubt about it  :y :y  As for opinions... The world would be very boring if everyone agreed on everything ;)

But DLK was referring to the way it has changed. Have a look at some of the threads towards the end of the General Discussion area and you'll see what it used to be like. I've not been here since the start but have seen the changes since I joined 3 years ago :y

'Shoutboxes' don't really work on larger sites, and a pretty divisive on any site imho.

The site itself was Fairly big. It came in about half way through my time on there.

Was just used as a quick way of communicating i suppose. :)

To add to my earlier posting on this thread:

Yes, there is one thing now bugging me, and I know others, about how over sanitization of our posts is taking place.  Tonight I have had at least one taste of this again.

Someone made a very unfortunate comment about a question I asked.  Other members stepped in to express dissatisfaction with that member comment to me.  I thanked them, and made a very polite observation on what had been said.  Suddenly the Admins step in, express anger about everyones involvement, and delete all the posts as though we as adults cannot handle it.

That very rarely happened in the past , but now censorship on here is common.  Why so much?  OR Admins is it just me? ::) ::) ::) ::) ;) ;)

Would you rather it was just a mosh pit where simply the strongest survives?

I know that there are quite a few on here that are making their absenses longer and longer between postings.....

No, certainly not of course Ht. ;) ;)

But are we being too sensitive on here as is the rest of society? :-/ :-/ :-/  Are we witnessing too much protection? :-/ :-/
