Dread to think what 40+ tonnes could do

I'm afraid a friend of mine found that out first hand about 15 years ago. RIP. :(

I was on the M25 a few months back. Everything came to a stop so I anchored up and stopped in the middle lane. In the slow lane just ahead of me was a 44 tonne artic, fully freighted with a container on the back. Next minute a guy in a new transit tipper came down the inside lane at 60+ mph and rear-ended the artic.

He actually managed to shunt the artic forward several feet and there was nothing, and I mean NOTHING left of the transit cab!! The guy behind the wheel basically popped! I had splatters of blood over my car from maybe 30 feet away!!

The policeman first on the scene said that someone had recently reported this guy for texting whilst driving. He probably never saw it coming, as there were no skid marks at all!

If your blood is now running as cold as mine does every time I think back to that day, then please, please, please don't use you phone when behind the wheel!!! And if you see anyone else doing it, do them a favour and report them! You might just save their life!!

End of rant...  :-X :'(

I saw a female come past my house today on a large scooter (probably 250cc size) who had her mobile in her hand, and appeared to be reading a text.

Madness.

I saw a picture once of a Smart car (with their super strong steel cage etc) literally flattened between two 40t gravel trucks..  :-/

A accident is never a pleasant sight, you could do your bit to prevent it, but as long as theres people thinking texting and driving is cool and talented!! there will be accidents!  >:( >:(
