Insignia washer jets
« on: 16 March 2010, 12:28:51 »

Just fited one of these to the passenger side of my facelift omega to see how good they are.

They fit easily enough and once the nozzle is adjusted (it needs angling up a lot) they appear to aim well.

So, after a trial of a few weeks I will see how good they are and then fit the drivers side one.

Pros:

Uses a fan wash pattern so gives mush better screen coverage when washing.....which reduces screen wash consumption

Cons:

No heater element, not a big issues on the facelift given where the jets are located but, looks like one could be fitted for a few pence.

And the cost....about 3-4 quid.

i find the scuttle a bit unstable meaning the aim often needs tweeking, will the mod improve matters? i guess it will? fan shape does sound preferable. Didnt think heaters made any odds on mine, they froze up at the END of the journey a couple of times in the winter and thats with a heavy mix dose of screen wash.

Which reminds me, macro have a 2 for one offer on screen wash at the mo. Fareline brand is it? something like?  2.99 for 5litres.

The fan should help as it sprays across a much wider area meaning more of the blade gets the spray.

Beware cheap screen wash.....

I bet they're completely different to the mini-facelift type though. I must adjust mine as they fire all over the place ;D ;D

Could be worth while, shame winter is now over. Do like the 'fan' shape as gives much broader coverage. Noticed that on mates Punto, Omega really needs them due to size of screen.

Thank you Mark.  So you just push/slot them over the spouts that are already there ???

No, push the old jets out through the scuttle....pull the pipes off (the hardest bit), push the pipes onto the new jets and insert back through the scuttle.

Then adjust the aim (although I adjusted mine up quite a bit before fitting as its easier to get at)

Thank you once again.  I'll be "jetting" off to Vauxhall very shortly.
