Assembled a new pair of gas springs to the bonnet of my winter Caravan. The bonnet crashed onto my back last week. Outch.

But that was only a warm up for today. See more on http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=138670.0

Tweaked the handbrake on the Bullet, and fixed the rear numberplate bulb, and reattached the spring on numberplate.

Filled Battlebus with fuel, Range = 0 when I got there, but no worries, as still only got 55.8l in, and tank is 57l, so loads left.

Fitted the rear brake lines and (since the photos) the main battery cable..

Half the bends were made with the tube bender you can see there, the rest (especially the tight ones on the front->rear line) were around a ~22mm socket the old fashioned way.

Thanks Kevin :y

I've been trying to find clips like the brake pipe ones (knock in clips) for 5/16 & 3/8 fuel line to no avail.. so P-clips it will have to be on the other chassis rail!

When I buy the fuel line, that is.. money money money!

Changed the steering idler. Decided I really need to replace the front pads before I put it in for MOT. In fact, before I drive it anywhere :-X ::)

I knew they were low but... :-[

Oh, and whilst there I cleaned up and under sealed a bit in the wheel arch.

Took the Merc out of the garage & gave it a run, not used it for almost 3 weeks what with the bad weather & my recent op .
Started on the button gave it a 40 mile run in glorious sunshine & then filled it up on the way home, average 25 mpg not bad at all for a 4.3 litre.

Very neat job there mate! Is that a Dax Dedion chassis? I have a pilgrim sumo tucked away waiting for some spare time to bring her back to rude health. Sadly mine was someone else's half-finished work so will never look as neat as that! ::)

Also, that's some pretty serious home networking kit!  ;D

Thanks  :y And yep it's a Dax DeDion :) I was being incredibly anal over the brake pipe - I'm not 100% happy with the passenger side rear as it isn't a neat loop at the bottom (more like two separate curves) but .. nobody is ever going to see it ;D Took me basically all of Saturday to get the hoses bent up and clipped in..

Still undecided what to run the fuel lines in - I'd like to do hard lines (copper or ali) but that means knowing where everything is going to end up (fuel pump, filter, etc), and I don't yet! ;D Might have to leave that until the body is on..

Also ;D at the network bit - that's two 8-bay NAS's, switch, router, ESXi host etc  :-[ I should really move it up into the loft before I start sanding GRP in the garage..

Diagnosed leaky cam cover gasket on the MV6. Topped up screenwash. Gave it a stern talking to, closed the bonnet.

More importantly, fitted a few bits to the explod and got it fired up for the first time in three years. Still runs sweet as can be! Going to play car Tetris round the yard so I can start work on it tomorrow :y

I am a big fan of the modern plastic fuel lines mainly as they are the only type I have never had some sort of issue with.

I usually use these guys:

I looked at plastic too - as you say it's basically indestructible, ethanol safe, easy to work with etc.. I just wasn't sure how to terminate it at either end as I was going from that to AN- fittings; easy with copper or aluminium as you just pop a tube nut on and flare the end (or use a compression fitting), but I couldn't figure it out with nylon and my google-fu wasn't helping me :)

Tube nuts or compression fittings.

You have an insert that goes in the pipe and then basically an olive arrangement on the outside, works really well.

Sounds ideal - I'll try and find them, then :) I notice the site you linked to does sell the inserts and nuts (https://www.ssldieselparts.co.uk/fuel-pipe-tube-nuts-p-382.html) but not ones that would mate easily with an AN JIC fitting.

Just need to find the equivalent designed for hose requiring an insert and I'll be golden  :y
