If you feel safe and confident driving your Omega and you like it,  get it fixed. You can’t put a price on happiness👍👍

I have yet to find a car as comfortable as the Omega, though we are all different, and I think most people here know I have 2 separate back injuries, so have some unique requirements.

I have no idea how old your are, but guessing from your post that you aint a spring chicken, so confidence can become an issue with changing cars - I did worry that my mum, when she got rid of a beemer she had had for over 20 years, and replaced with a small shitbox, if the tiniest car park knock would shatter her confidence.  Fortunately not the case, as the day she picked up her brand new car, she managed to mow down her gate with it, then in a separate incident a day or 2 later, broke her wrist.  Fortunately, neither dented her confidence to drive, which she needs to where she lives.

The flip side is, once you start chasing the rot, it can become a annual, expensive event.

So, probably need to see how bad it is, and how much its going to cost, and have an honest reflection on how long you need a car for.  2nd hand car prices are high currently, but may be cheaper option in the long run if you think you will be driving for many, many more years.

Hiya!

Update on welding saga!

TB, I am the wrong side of 74 this year ffs!
Can I just say to you that this forum has some very informative members including yourself and I really do appreciate it as it has helped me over the years. I am sure that most members on here would agree. Well done sir!!

Thanks to all members inputs to my problem and hopefully I will find out on Monday as the the magic electricery man with a sparky lance is having a look! I can weld but the arthritis has taken over I am afraid.

Will update next week.

Cheers!  :y

Another day being amazed by the welding artistry of Addy (also of this parish). He's slowly working his way round the Golf making it significantly less holey. I can't take any credit, all I do is hold things and pass things, and make the brews. I am aware of my limited skills...

Fitted spotlights to the daily Civic. That means it now has 60bhp more.

Now having a triumphant cup of tea having dropped the entire subframe, engine and box out of the ex plod.

Smugness soon tempered by the disc9very of more holes than I wanted... But it'll get done properly once and that's it.

Only decision so fqr is whether to epoxy the engine bay in black, or light grey, as my beloved Bilt Hamber don't do a charcoal colour ..
