The Alabama Mumsybus threw a generic glow plug controller code along with the occasional code for a specific glow plug, usually #2 or #4, but never together, although this varied enough to be deemed inconsistent.

Symptoms were long cranking and unburned fuel in the exhaust during cold starting unless the glow plugs were cycled twice. A new glowplug controller eliminated the codes and the cold starting issue.

Point being, it might not be a glowplug fault. ;)

Point being that if a glow plug is open circuit when measuring from the control unit, it aint the control unit, but either the glow plug itself or the loom.  Loom less likely on a sub 20yr old car.

Whether or not that resolves the particular issue of slight erratic idle when starting from cold will not be known until its been replaced, but its a likely candidate and most certainly needs to be fixed before going any further.

Mm ok I thought switch them on from cold for a bit and check each one💁🏿‍♂️
Will struggle for access to do that, even with a IR stat.  If access was easier, I would pop the connectors off the top of plugs, and measure back, but would need a tunnie to get in there without some level of disassembly.  And you can never find a tunnie when you need one ;D

Finished refurbing the "new" set of wheels for the Boxster. Got 3 hours before going back to work, so could fit them, but suffering a mild case of cba.

Washed it, then attempted to buff out some supermarket scratches and dings. Moderately successful. Did the headlights with some PlastXr too. Do them every month or so to keep them clear so i can see where i'm going.  ;)

Yeah, that's scaring me.  Plus the new glow plug needs coding in somehow, and SDD is a right royal pain to use.

It was from the Gay or E, so you could be right.  However, I have used this seller before, and they didn't have to go to hospital, or dog died, or granny was ill, or the usual shit from scumbag lazy eBay sellers.

Gave it a blast up to Gaydon, then changed the oil when I got back.

Filled up Mrs TB's pigs piss tank.
