Took it to local Vx and had the aircon done. They still hadn't the right tool for the pressure valve but used vice grips anyway. SEEMS to be ok so far  :-X

Unfortunately they wouldn't accept the £40 Masterfit voucher  >:(
Doesn't apply to aircon apparently though it doesn't state that. Gutted as this was the only reason I was getting it done right now, though I suppose I should have checked first.
I did get 25% discount for service club, but I might just drop Vx a quick email anyway.

Yesterday, fitted new (to the car) pads on the 3.2 as the old ones self destructed. Bled brake fluid for some nice fresh stuff, also inspected rear brakes.

Got the 3.2's aircon gassed, no leaks apparently. Shall see  ::)

Took Estate around to little fatties. Attempted to replicate cooling problem MotherT had, could not do it, cooling fans working as it should. ECU temp as close as it should be to dash gauge, so all well there.

Earlier I did decided to change coolant anyway, run it up to temp with coolant cap off, just to get any possible air out.

Friday I did the rear pads & discs on the M3 and decided that I'd like to have words with whoever decided to route the rear pad wear sensor cable where they did, the numpty (impossible to renew the sensor without removing half the undertrays and wheel arch liner!). Also, instructions lie when they say 'tap the disc with a soft faced mallet to dislodge it' and I should know by now that what they really mean is 'wind on a load of tension with a three legged hub puller and then pound it with a rubber mallet until it flies off the car at great speed and with great force'.

Saturday the M3, Omega and Micra all got washed and I nearly died of sun stroke. I also finally took the winter tyres off the Omega and discovered they were going very bald on the inside at the front; I take this as a hint that I really need to do the wishbones and get a geo before I go through the summer tyres as well. :'(

Sunday I took the M3 up to Rockingham to drive the International Super Sportscar Long layout which was fantastic fun, very technical and challenging and, for the high speed banked corner, scary knowing the only thing to catch you if you run out of talent is a concrete wall. I got overtaken by a set of three Radical SR3s a lot and discovered that I am very poor since I can't seem to afford to take my 911 GT3 to track on a trailer towed by a brand new 335d Touring, nor am I towing my stripped, caged & prepped 328i with £50ks worth of mobile home  :'( ;D

Here's a photo of one of those blasted Radicals about to overtake three of us..

Cleaned the breathers today and did a "webby the bear" sprayed carb cleaner into my right eye. F@#k that hurts. A hour later mopping my headlight and got a lump of g3 in my left eye I now have two bloodshot eyes.
