If you pressurise the caliper with both pistons free you'll always only see movement in the loosest one. The fact that both moved at all tells me there's nothing wrong with the caliper. Just make sure the retaining pins and the areas where the pads slide are lean and lightly greased and I reckon you'll have no bother. I personally wouldn't remove the piston unless you are going to rebuild the caliper with new seals.

Force it out with hydraulic pressure, then lever it back in ::) repeat until freedom is restored, but you need as much pad as possible between the free piston and the disc in order to concentrate the pressure behind the sticking piston, which in turn needs as little pad as possible to allow maximum travel without actually popping the piston out :y

Got ya  :y

Both pads are equal in thickness, so will reassemble, pop inside pad back in, then pump the brake.

Did'nt think of that, as you say will force outside one to hopefully come out and say hello  :)

Cheers for that  :y
While its apart, clamp the inboard one, and cycle the outboard one.

Plus clean up as I suggested Monday :)

Commenced work on  the MOT fail list on the Cavalier, despite still waiting for some parts to turn up. Found a leaky rear wheel cylinder which meant I couldn't put the new shoes on that side until I get another cylinder.
Took the wishbones off to grind off the rivets for new balljoints - when they arrive -  >:(
Was knocking seven bells out of the remains of the rivets to remove them, with a lump hammer and whacked my thumb full pelt with the hammer. Made I feel sick. ::) ;D.....Is now throbbing so much I think I can actually seeit. :D ;D

I have three cars that need an oil change now (the M3 has done two track days on the same oil  :-[ ).. Pop round some time and we can get all of them done over the pit? (Same goes for you, Mr Wood)

What you all need is a car that needs constantly topping up. Saves actaully changing the oil...

What we all need to know is where we should put the leak? :P
