;D

Summat like this...

http://standheizung-ersatzteile.com/heizung-lueftung/webasto/1319/waermetauscher-madera-4-12v

 :-\

It's the one for sale here:

http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/96563-momo-steering-wheel-steering-wheel-boss-and-heater/

Apparently contains a Mini heater matrix, and it's the plastic hose barb fittings that come loose and leak. There is also apparently an all-metal matrix that's a better bet. Guessing it's this one:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rover-Mini-1984-1992-heater-matrix-SUPERIOR-metal-version-NEW-Made-in-the-UK-/300993263402

Still have to pull mine out and investigate though.

Yesterday actually ...

Changed a heater control panel bulb and the iffy hazard light switch.

Then flew east along the M4/A48 to collect the caravan from having it's second service.
All tickety-boo :y, though the 'Bank of Seth' got depleted somewhat! ::)

Bled some new brake fluid into the 3.2.

2.6 Went through it's MOT and now has new alternator fitted (VX refurbed one) courtesy of the local garage.

Slapped the removed battery removed from the 2.6 onto the Dead DTi (looking very stripped inside), turned the key - after pushing the clocks back into place! - watched the glow plug light go out and turned the key and it started immediately!!!  :o Even sounded good without an air box and filter!  ::)

Tried but failed to remove the autobox level plug on the 2.6, gave up before I rounded it off.  >:(

Sprayed white grease on all the door, boot and bonnet hinges, check straps and battery terminals. slapped some grease on the brake pipes and bonnet shut. used up old tins of WD40 / Plusgas by soaking the rear adjusters multiple times.

Got the Handbrake cable to do on Mrs VXL's estate this afternoon, using a genuine one this time as the pattern one stretches better than an elastic band.

I have had to use percussion assistance in the past. A sharp tap on the head (bolt not yours) may just help. :y

Jet washed the oil off as much of the bottom of the engine as I could reach. Hopefully, that will allow me to confirm that it's the dipstick tube that's leaking. Noticed that the header tank has some worrying cracks around the filler neck. Must get a new one.

Replaced all 3 wiper blades.

Cleaned and Rain-Xed the windows.

Hoovered the inside, and gave the interior a minuscule valet.

Removed some of the junk from the boot.

Bored with cars now, so I have got a beer. Today looks much better!

Drove from Bracknell to Gorran Haven; about 250 miles down the M4->M5->A30 and Cornish country lanes..

About 10 miles from destination the gearbox thumped out of drive and back in again, and again once more a few hundred yards from the house.. oh dear!
