Ah ok  ;D ;D

Every time I have seen such a failure is when the car has had a shunt, the engine and gearbox try to lurch forward and the rubbers tear.

Have seen one where it did go forward and the prop spline joint disconnected.

;D the engine didn't get a chance to go that far forward when I broke it properly... there was a lorry in the way :-X

I suspect that over time the rear seal has allowed oil to leak onto the rear mount, attacking the rubber, the final straw being  a conversation with a Honda Civic last year, as it was still intact in January '13 when I changed the clutch last :y

Engine mount was the nearside one, and had previously fallen off :-X suspect again a combination of oil damage and strain, as the engine rocks to the offside under load :-\

Perhaps noteworthy that the nearside engine mount was replaced by TVP when they last serviced the car at 96k...

Tagged the 2.6 onto the DTI's insurance for 30 days to see what it's like (£70) didn't know Direct line did that, and put a few gallons of fuel in the 2.6, now where is that LPG station  :D :D

That's one hell of a lurch, having had a prop apart to examine the centre prop mount bearing closely, there's a fair amount of spline!!!

I guess the donk and box do weigh a fair amount though, but it must also strain the rubber pad on the gearbox support bar.

Picked up the wheel after having a puncture repaired. Almost got around to taking it out of the boot and fitting it. Almost.
