Drove it for 2 miles at <cough!> 70 MPH this morning.

Then it occurred to me that I don't remember getting the torque wrench out to torque up the wheel nuts after the weekend's fettling. So, out with the wheel brace in the next layby. :-[
Yeah. Gixer has done that too me. Fortunately the noise and wobble happened in tesco car park, not the 70 mile high speed run before ;D

Bit like the droning noise that started on my way back from the last track day in the M3.. couldn't work out what it was, sounded like a wheel bearing had badly gone though.

Got home and the rear wheel bolts were all finger tight :-[

Finished the Jazz service and checked a pre-reg Jazz for £14.5  in the Swindon Honda. They say ours is worth about £2.5K. a 1.4 '06 plate with 48k miles. Seems low as I see them for £4.5 for sale. Looks like Autotrader for a private sale. >:( >:( >:(

Driven it back to bicester so I can let the slug line rape me for £70 for a delayed train with standing room only. AGAIN

And it's a shitty slamdoor so noisey, rattle, squeaky and bloody warm this crammed.

Not sure if I ever mentioned, I hate the rather chiltern slug

Sussed it

Head gasket failure anyone (this is the engine I pulled out of my MV6 about 18 months ago)...

I noticed the steam cleaned cylinder head and piston crown before I scrolled down & saw the displaced fire ring.

What was the history behind this engine?

When I bought it, the car was in very poor mechanical condition but solid bodywork and was very cheap. Judging by the amount of gunk in the coolant system when I flushed it, I reckon it had been run with little or no antifreeze for quite a while. Got 15k out of it before it blew at 165k - and I tend to be quite heavy with my right foot  ;)

Got an MOT :D

Receptionist prompted me to "have a word" with the tester "about your handbrake" . Said conversation included the expression "benefit of the doubt". ::)

Absolutely. The handbrake works too. And it releases. Sometimes. Half a mile up the road. ::)
