Started stripping the 2.2 breaker, scuttle looks to have never been off so as I suspected the power sounder was still in place, bugger took 20 minutes to stop squawking in a bucket of water , is this a record?

Emptied said bucket and the frigging thing kicked off again, duly smashed to bits and peace is restored  ;D
It's the only way :D

Al that is a stunning truck! Do want..
Indeed it is. Only a straight six, but practically straight through pipes, sounds proper, well, proper 8)

Worthy of another shameless picture...
Spot of wiring on this beasty...

Which was nice 8)

What a monster! Yours?
It is 8) And sadly not :'( Belongs to a bloke I used to work with, but very nice nevertheless  :y

Yes, no engine sounds better than a straight six.

I keep eyeing them up in classifieds but the heart wants a V8 and not one two cylinders short of a full pack .. and they go for significantly more money.

The GMC trucks are notably cheaper, but usually 6 pots, whereas the Chevrolet ones are almost all V8s and consequently twice the money ::)

A straight, original GMC truck and a crate LSx should still work out cheaper than an equivalent age Chevy one if you feel that way inclined 8)

How fast are trucks of that era? I mean, I'm guessing it'll be a 6L+ motor, but I'm also guessing it develops pretty poor power and weighs more than the building behind it.

Think it's either a 4.1or 4.4 :-\ won't set the world on fire, but it goes well enough. Performance depends on tune and gearing ;)

But as Stemo so politely suggested, it's as much about looks and sound as it is driving... that particular truck is a four speed manual with no power steering, so actually takes some driving.

I'd imagine 50 miles around the lanes would leave you with an upper body structure like Charles Atlas or Arnie ;D ;D

Today I did a real serious inspection of the carrosserie area above the rear rear wheel suspension.

Rust everywhere!  :o

But only on the surface. Strong material below!  ;)

Sandstorm needed....

Front wheel bearing changed .. with a little help from the awesome brain of Nick W .. :) and a touch of anti-corrosion work on the chassis leg and inner wing while I had the space to work ...  just need to visit the local garage for final tightening tomorrow and that's another job jobbed .. :)
