Well was wondering why only high end on radiator fan was working coming on close to 100. And found out why. The switch is coming apart. So ordering a new one has white one on but part is black or white is there a difference?

Obviously a cheap, shitty part.

Intermotor from local factors be better than Ebay... Failing that, known good second hand from Steve@omegaspareparts...

I bought one from bullseye motor parts but there was black and white both have different numbers but both fit just said what one do you want black or white. So stuck with same colour that was on. Think it's got really hot and melted the glue that seals the thermostat. Luck it's been working still on the top fan. Been wondering while the gauge has been going so high and then dropping so fast. Just flushed the system out 2 weeks back. It's a bit to hot to be driving round with the switch playing up. See how this one goes go 1 year warranty with this one.

well, the crapisso is dead again 
after it was driven back from the clutch cowboys (about 15 miles) ,parked up about 5 hours
the owner tried starting it several times to no avail
I went over , had a look
turned over very slow (as if battery was flat)
charged the battery , still the same
changed the brand new starter for a known working unit ,still slow turning over
jacked it on axle stands (drive wheels clear)
neither wheel spins freely (car out of gear) a lot of resistance to turn them .
engine turns as expected from the crank with socket / ratchet (i was beginning to think seized  )
so there is still an issue with transmission / clutch
then i was informed that there was a puff of smoke when the owner tried starting last night 
couple of the ecu loom wires fused together FFS

t needed to be elsewhere ,so that's where i left it today

I intend to check the starter connected but pulled away from the ring gear
(to prove all the wiring from a fresh /fully charged battery to starter is ok )
i will fix the loom first
run a code reader (but due to fried loom the battery is disconnected ATM)
and check the engine earth strap
 (if missing or poor connection ,it could explain the late night fry up )

How does it matter what colour the part is? It needs to fit without leaking, and switch the fans at the correct temperatures - which is usually marked on the switch.

Drove my nice car about 50 miles to collect the relative ,to collect the Crapisso from the "clutch specialist"
I spoke on the Crapisso owners behalf (he has no understanding of technical matters)
they did say sorry and admitted they made a mistake
said they where going to discipline the person involved for the lack of bolts
i spoke to the senior technician to check what had been done today
he assured me that he checked the flywheel,input shaft,clutch etc replaced the bolts etc
and replaced the starter motor with a brand new one (damaged /missing teeth) F.O.C
they waved the recovery costs to get the car back to their workshop to fix it .
they did however NOT offer any compensation for the cost of hire car,gear oil over the block paving ,inconvenience of it all
did not bother to clean or re-fit the engine under tray in the boot .
I have told the owner to first contact the clutch place's head office ,to see if they will compensate.before going to trading standards/small claims court.

I did however get the cash for the bucket i squashed
so all's well that ends well

Nope , I'm posh , I have electric lighting here 
the bucket has been stamped back to shape for the time being 
It will be replaced soon though .

Having thought about why the wiring has gone tits up on the car ,I think the following :

the earth strap from body to engine block is attached to the gearbox
during the cars recent engine and box parting company (lack of bolts)
said earth path became non existant
the starter and alternator ,being the electric hungry items they are ,sort other means to satisfy their need for earth 
namely ,small control wires that connect to engine sensors etc to the ECU ,
which are not up to the current carrying capacity .
in protest , the small control wires got hot and bothered , melting the insulation
probably frying the ECU too 

really wish I had just bit the bullet ,found the time and replaced the clutch for him myself now 
even if I say, "enough is enough" it's dead ,
which is a shame , because it was a low mile car that i'd just done the cambelt etc ,
and should have been good for another 100k with a new clutch .

So,  that leaves me driving round looking at crappy french cars to find a replacement for him

You need to get a full refund of everything spent as they have basically written the car off,get trading standards involved

found out what difference is. It's the wiring both same plug but differtly wired up different is fan speed switch slow to fast. Black is fast to slow so would need to swap wire over.

Chucking the miles on the company hack, soon get past this 6k replacement limit so might need to order the next one.

Did get a trip down around the test track in a 140mph milk float

I agree with HenryD. These cowboys need to be made to suffer by one means or another.
Could it be fixed with a second hand ECU and a couple of wires replaced ?

found out what difference is. It's the wiring both same plug but differtly wired up different is fan speed switch slow to fast. Black is fast to slow so would need to swap wire over.

Pulled away from a junction and thought "oh, that bike's noisy". 

.. as he disappeared over the horizon and the noise remained, came to the realisation that it's me.

Have to tow a tower to a radio contest tomorrow first thing.

Luckily I'd spotted a hint of a blow from the usual place in front of the back box but thought I'd get away with it for now, so had ordered a new system which arrived yesterday. What I didn't plan on is the pipe into one of the front boxes just dropping out!

So, I should be packing but instead I'm drilling out cat section bolts.

Or try and get a judicial enquiry,to find out who's to blame.   Were there's blame.
