Pulled away from a junction and thought "oh, that bike's noisy". 

.. as he disappeared over the horizon and the noise remained, came to the realisation that it's me.

Have to tow a tower to a radio contest tomorrow first thing.

Luckily I'd spotted a hint of a blow from the usual place in front of the back box but thought I'd get away with it for now, so had ordered a new system which arrived yesterday. What I didn't plan on is the pipe into one of the front boxes just dropping out!

So, I should be packing but instead I'm drilling out cat section bolts.

Well, finally got the new exhaust on at 10PM last night. Even had to drill out the cat bolt that I'd replaced with a nut and bolt last time, which amused me greatly, It had welded itself into the hole with rust.

New exhaust fits perfectly, so ETB/Eternal are clearly still churning out decent stuff.

Drove my nice car about 50 miles to collect the relative ,to collect the Crapisso from the "clutch specialist"
I spoke on the Crapisso owners behalf (he has no understanding of technical matters)
they did say sorry and admitted they made a mistake
said they where going to discipline the person involved for the lack of bolts
i spoke to the senior technician to check what had been done today
he assured me that he checked the flywheel,input shaft,clutch etc replaced the bolts etc
and replaced the starter motor with a brand new one (damaged /missing teeth) F.O.C
they waved the recovery costs to get the car back to their workshop to fix it .
they did however NOT offer any compensation for the cost of hire car,gear oil over the block paving ,inconvenience of it all
did not bother to clean or re-fit the engine under tray in the boot .
I have told the owner to first contact the clutch place's head office ,to see if they will compensate.before going to trading standards/small claims court.

I did however get the cash for the bucket i squashed
so all's well that ends well

Or try and get a judicial enquiry,to find out who's to blame.   Were there's blame.

I hold my hands up , I squashed the bucket ,
I see no point in holding a multi million pound judicial enquiry to prove I was a knob and should have looked before reversing 
had i not spent ages messing with a messed up Citroen, my rear parking camera may have been fitted by now

so, yesterday I pulled and spliced  in new  wires to the fried loom on the crapisso
(as far as i could see ,dunno what other toasted wiring is in the dash etc)
then with a fully charged battery ,and a jump lead from the wing's ground point to the engine block
tried it , fired up strait away 
as it always did prior to the clutch cowboys shenanigans

tried jump lead from wing earth to gearbox earth point (to prove it was not the original earth strap faulty) no starty
so the re-con gear box is impeding earth to the engine block
thinking i was on to a winner  I made a new (re-purposed) HD earth strap to provide good earth to block,gearbox,ecu cage 
starts and runs great 
reversed to remove wheel chucks ,sounds like a tin of bolts in the hands of an epileptic mid fit
worse at clutch bite point, quiet as a field mouse with clutch fully depressed
rattle with the car out of gear ,clutch released
suspect bent gearbox input shaft ,clutch probably damaged
suspect the gearbox cowboys just put all the missing bolts in and called it job done
(rather than disassembly / inspecting everything ,which they said they had in half a day they had it )
it's done about 15 miles since they had it back to fix there first balls up  (the trip home)
i did not drive it , i was in my omega ,nice n comfy

so the saga continues

still no replacement bucket , not had time

Time for legal action, or the threat of it. Ask the 'garage' if they've ever watched 'The sheriffs are coming'.
If they have, they'll immediately stop trading, change one letter in the company name, and start up again in the same premises.

It's agreed (and booked in) the car will go to a local independent garage ( at my expense )  ,purely to examine / document the mechanical condition of the clutch,gearbox and fried ECU loom ,probably the ecu (which is coded to BCM,dash binnacle etc) to hopefully confirm my findings.i have digital photo evidence  (which i assume will contain metadata  is it ? goodness date/time ? )

then , give the clutch cowboys an opportunity to send someone to do the same,
I say send someone ,because I am unsure if the car would make it back 15 miles to them ,may catch fire or rattle itself to bits 

As the cost of all repairs (new clutch,gearbox ,ecu ,loom ,coding etc etc) i suspect will be more that the value of the car plus  cost of the clutch ,recon gearbox they charged for ,some financial recompense will be sought via the uk justice system  if they do not offer a settlement .

hopeful that a replacement bucket will be sourced this weekend 

plus side , since resetting my trip computer on the omega , fuel consumption figures have started to look more realistic @ circa 26 MPG during the many trips to sort out the french automobile

  I do however need to give my omega some TLC rather than faf with lesser marques

Did get a trip down around the test track in a 140mph milk float

They let Mrs TB loose in an F type around there.  Jealousy doesn't even begin to describe it...

Changed the front pads on the Pussy, but had to reuse the old wear sensor, as the one ECP sent was damaged.  ECP replaced it no issues

Oh, and had some new rubber shoved on the back of the Pussy.

Taxed the V70.Changed the headlamps on step-daughters Passat and had round 3 of the Omega oil cooler change-6hrs on that so far and have now got to stage where coolant bridge is ready to go back on-then I've got to remember where all the wires/pipes etc came from

Finally finished putting the Omega back together,found I didn't have enough anti-freeze so will have to wait until I get some more[spent enough time on it this weekend] and see if everything is back as it should be.

Got 6 buckets        99p each    wickes
Ran the problematic french car to a local garage ,to have it checked
the mechanic confirmed / agreed with ,my theory about the bent gearbox input shaft,clutch damage and gearbox damage apparently .,
looked at the loom etc
advised the car be parked up ,battery removed for safety because it is too dangerous to drive and too dangerous to leave the electrical system attached to a battery.
he will do a report (get the office to print it next week )
apparently , fried wiring looms are very dangerous because ,as well as the risk of fire, it could lock you in the car ,then ,engine ,lights etc can do odd things ,causing an accident
also ,the clutch could fail ,causing a road accident / crash ,
so , not good

now looking for replacements for him,
do I get another french crapisso ,and have the old one as spares ,plus lots of spares in stock anyway or
tell him he has to have vauxhall ,which would be zafira A or B because he wants a high up seat

I've spent the last three and a half days at the Kent County Show with this Mini Ring of six bells:





I've rung every method that I'm capable of on six bells(the heaviest is about 15kg compared to the 1500kg one that I often ring) several times, and I reckon I've taught 40 people how to ring them. It's been fun, but my back is killing me and my leg hurts; despite the heat I'm going to have a warm bath when I've finished the cold bottle of Polish oral anaesthetic
