Saturday it went a for good trek around the Cotswolds (the XE) which was most enjoyable on the windy bits.

Also took it to work on Friday, driving like an old lady it showed 48mpg (it typically over reads by 1-2mpg)

And the MPG round my neck of the woods?

Changed the oil in the dirty Pussy, reset the service light, checked for fault codes for alarm going off, and there were none, so my Sunday morning alarm clock must have been someone elses car.

I tried to start my MV6. Battery flat as a pancake, so hooked it up to wife's Astra.
Still no start.
Replaced spark plugs
Still no start.
Gave up and had lunch.
Now having afternoon nap.

In my experience, you're better off removing the dead battery and putting a good, fully charged battery on the car if it's stood any length of time, even good quality jump leads don't give good contact .
if voltage drops bellow 12v when cranking the ECU shuts down IIRC

mid 30s then 42 on the Gloucester to home leg

My jump leads are pretty good, I've had them years (35) and cost me a days wages back then, and there was 14.5 V showing at the battery terminals when cranking off my wifes 1.6 astra (running)

Took the VXR8 through our shitty one horse town and scattered the Batflu dodgers...amazing what 650 ponies will do in a confined space. Then back home to shift the fleet around to make space for tomorrow, as Autofarce are coming to fit a screen on the white Omega,and hopefully they won't nause it up.....hopefully!

How thick are they and how long are they.  Often older jumpleads aren't that suitable, as they were made to jump Mini Metros, not big V6s.

Omegod, came from the other end of the M57 and swapped over the cam sensor, and then the Engine started first turn.
I then took it on a short blast. 
Such a great car. I did manage to test the traction control in the dry. Whoops.
Next ?
New battery, new exhaust, gearbox oil and filter change.

As the alarm went off yet again, decided to plug the laptop in.  I think its conclusive, grrrr

Pattern parts* ordered, so at least I have that fiddly and tedious task to look forward to in a day or 2

Noticed the other day that TBE's right rear window isn't playing.  So thats another job to do. Maybe. Still undecided.
