Soon to be 62. 
Finished a run of 5 nightshifts Monday morning. Back in on days at the weekend.
I usually do a lot of hours over several days. Mon - Fri shifts are 15 hours. Weekend shifts are 12 hours. So once Ive done a run of a few shifts I then  have quite a few days off. 

Still hurting from head to toe this morning. I really am getting too old for it.

Definitely need to slow down, I went part time at 60 19.5 hours a week in 2014, retired last June best thing I ever did.

No plans to slow down or retire, until my health makes the decision for me.
Did 69 hours last week, but off from Monday morning until Saturday.
If Im not doing holiday cover I get one clear week off out of four. I end up getting bored and look forward to getting back to work.
Had a health MOT yesterday. Blood sugar spot on, Cholesterol spot on, blood pressure slightly on the high side.
If they had tested the chassis though, I would have failed miserably.

It appears that I have finally got the French contraption to be oil tight, so I thought I would do an easy little job on the Omega today.
Noticed a knocking sound going over bumps recently, so assumed ball joint.
Took the old one off and it seemed ok, but as I had a new Meyle one in stock I thought I may as well fit it.
Bloody thing took half the day to get back together. Getting the strut to line up to get the ball joint to pop back in, was a near impossibility, but I got there in the end.
Ive done them before with nowhere near as much trouble. Im getting too old. Hurting from head to toe now.

If you only jack up one side, the tension in the arb makes it a complete dog to do.

Next time take the weight off both wheels. It really is a five minute job when done smart

I find that a bar, long enough to sit on, wedged in the wishbone leaves both hands free to align the parts. When they are aligned you take your weight with your knees and let the tension in the part assemble themselves. Learnt that doing lots of Capri/Escort TCAs. Although the later 'W' shaped ARB does need a ratchet strap to pull the second TCA into alignment with the crossmember

Checked the traps and poison under the bonnet of the Tata.

Been clear for a couple of weeks now presumably because the little turds can now find food elsewhere.

I've caught  5 or 6 in total with peanut butter as bait. The little f*uckers cause no end of damage.

I knew I was doing something different to last time. Couldnt think what it was though.
It was an absolute pig of a job.
Turns out the problem as a droplink anyway. Shouldnt have been a smartarse and thought I could diagnose it purely by the sound. 

Nick - Im sure your method would work, but taking the weight with my knees would be a very bad idea without an orthopaedic surgeon in attendance. 


Edit. I actually undid the drop link to take out the anti roll bar tension, which made it a bit easier, but it was still a pita to line the hub and wishbone up with each other.

Anyway, its all back together now but will be doing droplinks when new ones arrive.
Next job is to try and cure a slight weep from a joint in the PAS pressure pipe on the Boxster.
£250 for a second hand one will motivate me to do a proper job on that one !

They do seem to like peanut butter. I caught loads, using it for bait, when they were nesting under my shed a few years back.
They then got baptised in the name of the father etc. for abut 10 minutes.
