Highlighted two issues... The front pads aren't happy and the gearbox needs about a litre of fluid to smooth the shifts out. Job for tomorrow* ::)

The cheapest R Class in the country is starting to look like a good idea :-X
Albs wants shot of his beloved Pierre.  That has got to be a better bet than anything Mercedes Benz have come up with in the last 30 years?

I think that may be taking it a bit far.  ::) ;D
Ive found a small crack in the plastic rocker cover, above where the PCV part is. Im wondering if lack of pressure in the PCV could be related to lack of turbo boost pressure ?
I have my doubts, but then I dont know a lot about such things.  :-\

unrelated ,just another in a long list of faults CL-Eeyore throws up to get your attention   :D

the leak or sensor fault will be intake/intercooler  etc , no boost to rocker cover or crankcase ,unless things go wrong  :o

Had a quick check of intake, vacuum etc. and all looks ok. Im suspecting a problem with the turbo itself.
Will do some dismantling when I get time and try the Mister Muscle trick in the exhaust side.
If that doesnt work then tis time to decide whther to put another turbo on or cut my losses and scrap it.

Give it a squirt of brake cleaner and seal it with epoxy.

If that helps, get another cover.
If it doesn't, don't :y

He could always buy a new A150cdi.

That would tick both boxes :D

Serviced it.

Well, OK oil and filter, lubricated the latches and topped up the screen wash.

Not worth doing that unless it’s a vnt turbo which it seems like it isn’t. Make sure that pressure control valve is working properly as if it’s not it can cause excessive crankcase pressure which will play hell with everything.

Fitted these "upside down" Northern Ireland police spec Bilstein B8s on the ex-GMP MV6, and rears to match too.

What makes them 'upside-down'  ???

And did you refit the cup washer below the top mount (cup face down - opposite to the top one)? Not doing so will blow the top mount in pretty short order.

Also have Bilstein improved the rear fitting kits? Always found them underwhelming compared to the Sachs/OE fittings :-\ Rear shock upper threads were nearly an inch shorter than the Sachs/Factory ones.

I changed glow plugs on my 2.5DTI, and it wasn't easy, took me 3 hours. Poor car was starting on one glow plug working correctly. One was separated in two pieces, fortunately above screwing point.
Now parking sensors decided to die for some reason   :-\

So called "upside-down" Bilstein front dampers have the body containing the oil in a large diameter chamber that looks like a massive piston rod at the top of the shock, and the rod then is screwed to the bottom of the strut. There are benefits in unsprung mass (marginal) and rigidity (mainly) when used in a McPherson strut where bending loads are applied to the assembly.  They were popular for use in rally applications for this reason.
The struts I acquired were new old stock, and the rears were the last ones in the country. You are right there wasn't much in the way of a fitting kit, but fortunately all the Lotus Carlton stuff we have in stock is compatible, so we fitted new Peddars uprated top mounts and our S514 Lotus spec cup washers to the top, and had some new bottom bolts and GSi top mounts for the rear.
Car is noticeably firmer now (only just on the acceptable side of uncomfortable), which is compounded by a switch to 17" Alloys with Nangkang cup tyres all around that replaced the 15" ancient Goodyears that it came on.  On a previous car I did a back to back and the Nankangs were firmer than Uniroyals, so I left the Uniroyals on the comfort barge that I have now sold.
Plan is to fit the LSD next, and better front brakes before converting to manual box and lighter flywheel next year.

Fair enough, B6s were a waste on the Omega, so B8s are an extravagance, but not my car, so if it works for you... :y

Did you remember the cup washer below the top mount?
