..........
I have also driven a good number of nearly new Porsche's with them fitted and the handing and driving  characteristics have been excellent in my opinion.

Ironically it was a Porsche forum (911uk.com if I recall correctly) being critical of the P Zero's that drew my attention to them snapping out of line on damp roads.  :y

Nothing to do with Porsche, (and Audi) putting the engine so far out of the wheelbase that it can't possibly go round a corner at speed in the wet ;D

…………
reversing off my drive, the front wheels used to 'chatter' on full lock.
……….

Interesting to know, our Audi A3 does that as well. Only 20K on it and new Goodyear Eagles on all corners.  :y  The previous Goodyears still had plenty of tread left but had started to perish, with the usual cracks in the tread groove and a couple with tyre wall cracks.
Initially when it did it I thought a wheel was loose.  ::)

I'm led to believe that this 'chatter' is more pronounced with the Quattro 4 wheel drive models. How much truth there is in that, I'm not sure, although I have also noticied it with the various Porsche models doing the same reversing manoeuvre.

They can, as long as you know how to steer with the throttle.  :)

I’ve found 4x4 cars with a tight diff are very prone to this my Evo being an example.

I really am not a fan of Pirelli unless you are burning through them every 12 months, they go real bloody hard as they age and grip drops off a cliff

Ooh, a tyre thread, it's Lizzie's fault.  :)  The reason I liked Goodyear Eagles on my Omega was because when I was travelling home from work in the pouring rain one day, a car pulled out directly in front of me forcing me to brake really hard. There was no drama, no abs from what I recall, the Goodyears just did their job.  :y
It was before I was reformed so it goes without saying that I was pushing on a bit, so I was impressed with the wet grip of those Goodyears.  :y  They were so good under hard braking in the wet that my lunch bag flew from the back seat and turned the radio off.  ;D  It's just a shame that you have to bin them with decent tread on due to the dreaded tread groove cracks.  ::)

Obviously I’m reformed too🙄 I’m using nankang NSR2 semi slick track day tyres on the Evo and found as long as you’re not too crazy they’re ok for normal use on the road in the wet too, needless to say they are very good on track especially for the money in the dry.

I'm sorry, but the words Evo and reformed just don't go together.  ;D  :y

TVP used Goodyears on their Omegas with good reason :y

Following a near blowout from the almost new Sumitos that were fitted to TPC when I bought it, it now has Goodyear Eagles as well. And they perform just as well on the S Class as they did on the Omega :y

Following a near blowout from the almost new Sumitos …….

A Hankook tyre let go on me when we had the Omega. I was very lucky though, firstly as we’d not long unhooked the caravan after a 250 mile journey and secondly that it wasn’t at great speed. I was doing about 60mph when the car twitched slightly, giving me time to roll to a standstill with little to no braking. The self levelling sorted the change in height on that wheel so it was all rather boring really.  ::)
And yes, those nasty little reinforcement strands did stick in my fingers as I went to remove the wheel.  ;D  I thought that I had a normal puncture, I didn’t realise that it was a full on blow-out as the hole was on the inside tyre wall.   ::)  I don’t recall hitting anything in the road but suspect some of the damage was rolling damage where I was slowing down.

………..
Pirelli 235/45R17 POWERGY 97Y tyres ………

How do you find these on your Omega? I see that the Powergy is a fairly recent tyre but I won’t have Pirelli tyres on any of my cars any more due to poor experience of Cinturato’s of old and more recently P Zero’s, not on an Omega admittedly, but on my bmw 330d’s/430d’s. The P Zero’s would snap loose mid bend in damp conditions (not just my view, it’s well documented), which made life interesting, and the wear rate isn’t good at all.  I wouldn’t have fitted them personally but they were a standard fit from new. You can choose your car spec but unfortunately you can’t choose what tyres you get, it’s pot luck what brand they were fitting on that build week.  ::)  I prefer Michelin as first choice, followed by Goodyear but everyone has their own opinion.  :y

I have them on all four corners and find them very good, with great road holding around the bends.  Had them for some time now, and wouldn't change. :D ;)

What do you mean? :o :o ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well I am a million mile driver, having taken many long journeys for business over decades, dealing with all road conditions and weather.  Even getting up to top speeds (max for an Omega, and Senator  >:D >:D >:D) when needs arose.  Wouldn't do it now, but that certainly tested my skills over those years ::) >:D >:D
