Replaced the door seal on the 530D. Thirteen years of wear had taken its toll

I never believe my cars when it tells me I have so much fuel or so many miles left. The Smart will tell me I have 4.0 litres left which should mean there's room for another 31 litres ..... in reality there's room for another 25/26

I used to take the Omega down to zero miles or not much more  ::)

I no longer look at the pump when filling the 530D until it clicks, then I play the 'land on a .00 number' game  ;(

I think with modern diesels they artificailly stop the car before you run out, so save bleeding problems.  With both my petrol dialy Omegas, I knew that getting down to zero was nothing to stress over, and you had a good 5 + miles left.  With the the Jaaaag, I assume the only way the car knows the fuel remaining is via the tank level sensor, so who knows if it starts its protection* shite as soon as it hits 1 or 0 miles range?  Probably one for that nice Mr DTM to confirm?

* It goes into reduced power to warn the driver they have a kilometre to find somewhere safe to stop, then if the driver ignores, will stop the engine.

Common rails won't run fully dry, they warn, then reduced power, then shut down......the HP pump does not take well running with air in it so they detect rail pressure

Is it on rail pressure (which is post HP pump?) or fuel level?  I imagine the HP pump can "keep it up" right until it's suddenly sucking air?

https://www.kolorbond.co.uk/vinylkote-paint-leather-vinyl/

This product is generally well recieved in classic car circles for both recolouring and rejuvenating both vinyl and leather interior trim and upholstery.

It may also be worth contacting a firm called Woolies in Peterborough who are specialists in upholstery and trim repair / recolouring etc. They have been going a long time and have supplied quality products for trim renovation for classic cars for years.
