TD Water Pump
« on: 11 August 2008, 09:37:18 »

Hello All,

Am I better off getting a new Water Pump for my 2.5TD from Vauxhall on Trade Club, or would one of the pattern ones on eBay be better/cheaper?

Thanks in advance.

Expensive, even at trade (not TC item).  A quality pattern should be cheaper.

£34+VAT from GSF for the BMW one - and their stuff is usually OE.

Thats for an E36 325tds/E34 525tds - guess its the same? Their part number B17027

Slightly OT (apologies), but I guess you know that GSF tend to get OEM stuff wherever possible (and actually say when it isn't).  Not had any bad bits from them yet..they've started to have some Vx stuff in, but mostly older 4-pot stuff so far and not too much of it either.  Worth keeping an eye out for?

The one from GSF ooks very reasonable, can anyone think of a reason why it wouldn't be suitable?

QH list the same pump for the Omega, BMWs and also the Range Rover which also used the same engine...so looks like there's only one!

Should have rephrased that...only one FITMENT...I think any plastic impellor one would be rather old stock by now?

Anyone know who manufactures the version with the metal impeller?

Actually, thats a lie, seem Omegatoy's before it was fitted.  Not as many fins, but obviously suitable still.  Came in a yellow box iirc, no idea what make though...

The QH pump I just fitted had plastic fins , but fewer than the perfect pump I removed. Cost Eu 50. Made no difference to the hot running tho.

By the way, the pumps are £81.50 exchange direct from BMW (£62.77 trade) and carry a 2 year guarantee....

Not sure why they're exchange, though!  A remanufactured water pump??
