My facelift - cambelt failure
« on: 14 November 2007, 19:39:52 »

Unfortunately I'm not joking.   :'(

As I was pulling onto the drive tonight, I heard a funny noise.

Thinking it was my aux belt tensioner, I opened the window to listen more as I went along, and I then heard an absolutely horrific metallic noise from the engine, followed by it promtly dying, and then refusing to turn over (or do anything). There was no other noise around, so I heard it clearly, and it was seriously not good.

It died probably around 3k revs (uphill drive) so if this is the case, it won't be pretty.

Such a nice car too, and such a bad time. I have reciepts for the belt kit being done, and it had easily 10,000 miles to go.

I'm convinced it's cambelt failure. I'll investigate more, when I eventually get a day off. Until then - no wheels for James.

Words cannot describe how upset I am right now  :'(

Sorry to hear James  :( Hope it isnt cambelt failure......it could be summat on the aux belt siezed  :-/

But i carnt believe you tried to start it again after the noise you describe and it stalling  :o
I know its tempting but its a BIG no no......if it was cambelt ( hopefully not tho) you could have done more damage than already done.
