HELP ME SOMEONE!!!
« on: 13 July 2009, 21:54:45 »

This car is driving me nuts!!   >:(replaced the o2 and maf sensors.  Plugs.  blooming thing is still chugging.  had the engine management light turned off after each time and still it comes back!!  ::)

I really love this car but if it continues i will have no choice but to give up with it. :-[ #  I dont really want to see it go.
If anyone can help with this continuing problem i would really appreciate it.  thanks  :)

what fault codes have you had on it , you need some one to read them it could be anything from a crank sensor upwards. but to save you money and time get the codes read and post them up here. there are plenty of good mechanics who are used to omegas on here that will give you a good idea of what it is

Have you had it checked with Tech 2?
Problem is, going to a local stealer, paying £75+ for the use of their Tech 2 and then having summat replaced and charged for and still the problem doesn't go away is a nightmare! (And it does happen).

If someone local to you has one though..........

not showing any codes when checked now, but engine light keeps coming on.
had problem for awhile.  was looked at by dtm. changed the maf sensor solved it for awhile then it came back.  after couple of mile light comes back again.

funny enough it does get worse after heavy rain :-?

it chugs and bangs and shakes when started has no power at all. even a pushbike overtook me the other day!  it was going so slow.  Then it willsuddenly find the power and shoot off.

getting really stressed with it.

another weird thing is the radio was off for awhile due to stupid garage disconnecting the battery.  it seemed a bit improved.  but as soon as it was back on again the problem seemed worsened.

several 2.2's have had an issue (esp if parked slightly downhill) where water escapes from the scuttle drian, drips onto the engine, and finds it way into the spark plugs.

I dont know if you have any tools or not, if you have torx bits, it will take you 2 mins to check....

unplug the connector from the far end of the engine, slide the black ecotec cover off, then 2 bolts to remove the coil pack, lift this out and check for water in the plug wells.

In our case, water was escaping where the large and small scuttle pieces met, filling this join with silicone worked for us.

others have been the result of a poor windscreen seal.

keep them dry in the meantime, park facing uphill, and you may find it helps.

wet plugs will certainly cause these issues, and cause early death of the coil pack as well  :'(
