Glad you are OK that is the most important thing ...... but it would be worth your while visiting your doctor for a check .... that way any injury will be on record .. saves you having to argue about it all later ....  :(

If you've got a sore neck, get yourself to the doctors as soon as possible. First thing in the morning if possible. Whiplash injuries can be very dangerous and sometimes the symptoms are not obvious.

Also, as far as an insurance claim is concerned you need to get checked out.

Really sorry to hear this. No matter how careful you are with your car there's always some tw@ who'll make up for it >:(

Anyway, glad you're all right. Could have been a lot worse. Remember you're not obliged to go to their "approved repairer" so get a couple of quotes. Doesn't sound like it'll ever be the same again eve if it were repaired though, TBH :'(

Arrgghhhh!!!! dark and raining dead straight road, doing 60 to  65mph driver in front of me  indicates to turn right and stops, so i stop and then hear the dreaded ssshhhsshhhss of ;locked wheels coming at me from behind, do my best to turn away from the impending smack up the rear but there isnt much room between me and the fourtrak turning right and the oncoming traffic, CRUUUUMMCH, EVERYTHING IN THE CAR SHOOTS FORWARD from where it was sitting, oh great pull off road to be greeted by a young fella who says " Ive never driven a car without abs before i just couldnt stop in time" i am very sorry mate,
get out of car expecting to see the rear caved in but because i managed to turn away a little he has only broken the clips holding the bumper on and severly damaged the rear valence under the bumper or so i thougt!!! get it home after taking all his details and have a good look, door gaps nearside rear have closed up and the car pulls t the right when driving now which it didnt before, rang insurance company and they want it to go to buckingham coachworks for repairs/stroke evaluation of damage, equivalent car hire for free so it will be a large estate according to insurers so no prob there BUT  i aint letting them write it off!!!! its to damn good so im gonna go down there asap and get them to estimate it while im there And none of this we will collect the car and return it fully repaired and valeted if its economically viable bullshit!!! 'dangle berries' to that! what you reckon chaps and chappesses ? I know its an old car but i love it and its going to Spain with me in a few weeks!!!

hmm yeah well what ever was this person taught?? main thing they told me when i was learning to drive was that if you dont know how your car works then dont drive it !!!
lol

maybe this person should try an iam course, and also learn how "real" brakes work. both our first 2 cars were normal braking and i dont think i have ever had to have the brakes locked, mainly because i kept to a safe distance, but also because i learnt where the last 10-15% before skiding was, as a result car stoped smoothly and safely whatever the occasion.
(rover metro 111, and a hyundai pony)

big difference when we got the meega, for the first couple of days we both were pushing a bit hard on the brakes and slowing down a bit faster than we though,

now thats my life story out of the way.

Definately get your neck looked at, as it can develop into something more painful, also as has been mentioned get it on teh record, as this guy admited full liability it could be a good pay out if thats what you wanted to persue.

glad that your ok tho.

cheers
nathan

At least you are Ok..

Could be worse..

The doors problem can be solved ..Same happened to a friends car...They pull the car from the back with a strong chain .And it turns to normal..

No No No. the structural integrity of the vehicle would be severely compromised. Another bang in the same place and it would fold like paper.

Glad you're OK Graham :y

if repaired in correct way nothing will happen..Metals loose the strength only with high stresses for long time or heating which leads higher  carbon content inside the structure..

I dont claim it will have  % 100 same strength..But will not be very weak..

I doubt any insurer would touch a car that had been pushed and pulled like that.

We're not talking Turkish Taxis here you know. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Huh Turkish taxis... most of them smell like a kitchen full of LPG ready to blow up with a cigarette  ;D ;D

But really insurance firms never accept them  ;D

From the memories I remember one friends car dropped down on its right side from a mechanics  lift  :o :o

Mechanic was a poor guy..Dont have insurance..

it was a real tragedy..

Believe me the car was corrected by a special equipment named robot (actually its not)..An equipment to push and pull with chains and other apparats..

Finally when its painted I couldnt believe my eyes..Become a normal car..Was a Ford escort..Total repair cost 750 £ .

Yep..from local markets or butchers  ;D ;D

In reality not that easy..You must attend a two months driving course ..Take physical report etc etc..But anyway having normal eyes dont mean you are not blind ..

I won't bore you with all the details but I had a claim against a neighbour who crunched the rear of my 2.0l estate outside my house and give him his due he admitted liability. His insurance wanted to write it off at a ridiculous figure but I dug my heels in hard, and reminded them repeatedly that they could not apply the conditions they would to their own insured, but that I was in effect sueing their client for full damages, regardless of the cost of the damage to, or the value of, my car.  After many weeks they finally capitulated and paid out a cash sum based on quotes I had obtained independently, at stupidly inflated prices, and provided a hire vehicle, (a Rexton!!!) for the full period.
The cash I got paid for my repairs through my friendly repairer, (not involved in the quoting), and a new diesel fuel pump and cambelt kit (including fitting) for my wife's 2.0lTD Rover 25. (over £1000). You wouldn't know anything had happened to the Omega now.
The moral? Go for their throats and stick to your guns until they give in.
And do get to the doctor NOW. It isn't necessary to exaggerate or lie; just get the facts recorded pronto.
Hope you get a good result all round.  :y
