Pulled by the fuzz...
« on: 30 November 2007, 00:36:51 »

Bloody  >:( >:( >:(

On way home from my mates just now, pulled in the Shell garage to get some fuel, then down back home.  Followed by our regions finest in a Volvo T5...  About 1 mile after the garage, lit up like a christmas tree...

Usual questions...  This your car, where you been, where you going, blah blah - other officer checking the tax disc and fiddling about with his radio...  Then comes the reason they stopped me.

'We have reason to believe this car has no valid MOT, therefor your insurance is invalid also...'

They wouldn't believe me saying I had it done earlier today.  Got the usual 'Out system says no blah blah'  But luckily had the MOT cert in the glove box, so told them where it was in the car (by this time I was admiring the rear seat of the T5) and so the second officer goes off & gets it.

Even then there still moaning at me and not fully convinced its legit so radio through checking out other details, 1 reason being I think they were suspicious I had 2 V5 documents exactly the same with 2 separate document id's on them (the DVLA sent me 2, not my fault!)  So after radioing through checking those out too to make sure they all match, I then get given a producer to go to the local station with my license, MOT (which they just saw), Insurance and V5 (again, just seen...)

 >:( >:( >:(

1 hour sat in there bloody car when I could of been sorting out stuff for things tomorrow  >:( >:(

Absolutely no probs with the stop as you describe it, until you had to produce docs at a Police Station that are easily checked online, when stopped and locked in the rear of the car, after confirming you are who you say you are....

No wonder the actions of some officers generate posts such as this.....   :-[

I got followed by Police in a Merc, into a petrol station at 3am the other morning, when on a nightshift.

They just said "hello mate, can you confirm your name and if this is your car?"...

I replied "yep, I'm... and this is my car"...

Ok, great sir, Have a nice evening  :)

Father in Law has had a few of those, Name & Age sir, ok, on your way, they must have looked him up 1st and want a quick confirm.

He does some unsocialable hours driving at weekends so often gets targeted.

I've only ever been stopped twice. Once leaving a pub when I was 19 (breath test passed, on your way, sir) and once about a year ago in the Westfield - just confirming it's my car.

I don't have a problem with either of those. If my car had been nicked I'd want them to be making a few spot checks. A bit rough giving you a producer when they have the documents in front of them AND the computer records to confirm it. That just smacks of deliberately making your life difficult.

The producer seems silly, its just paper work for the sake of it.

I have had a few pulls, the first was when I was 17, full blue lights the lot.....turned out it was an ex-girl friend.....scares the crap out of me.

I have been stopped loads of times in the past - solved the problem, I moved.

A friend was pulled for speeding 50 in a 40, he was being overtaken by lots of cars, but chosen because he was on a bike.

I have been pulled for a little over the limit (about 10%), Police man nearly caused a pile up with dangerous queue jumping on a blind corner on a hill. It was a pity the artic which had to emergency stop didn't get him.

I was amazed when I got a NIP for my little over the limit and catching the end of double white line (better visibilty up there). Yet the Policeman NOT with lights on wrong side of road on a blind corner. I made the mistake of stopping for him, and had a go at him AFTER getting the NIP.

That was the last straw, moved to Worcester a month later.

I think I was stopped for checks about once a month in Gloucestershire. One was for overtaking a police car doing 20mph.

What really put it home was when I migrated to cars I was stopped in Gloucester visiting friends by a special for having a Worcester registered car!

In Gloucestershire - 2 assults little Police interest - never got any compensation for stolen stuff, never got compensation for a stolen tax disc off the thief despite my nagging that I had to pay for the replacement - and my bike was vandalised (no interest) by same person - what is the point in arresting someone with YOUR tax disc on their bike and not making them pay back the victim >:(

Stops in Worcestershire - very few - one in early hours for random breath test and one for owning a Sunbeam and wanting a look!

Rant over!
