my omega auto  drives like a car with a slipping clutch  revs high before moving etc   then comes up on display " automatic gearbox"

I bought the car with a gearbox problem but i would like to find out what ithe issue is before i replace the box

oh and no stored fault codes


any input wouold be great :y

1st call is to check the fluid level, may just be low.

Presume you have just cehcked for engine codes uysing paperclip etc?
gearbox has its own ecu a good code reader can interrogate  :y

Would be good to have car details, but yes, check fluid level and colour, if ok, need to know in which gear does the engine rev (flare), the gear changes are controlled by 'solenoids' which can be changed, (£80) members may help.

its a 99 (t) 2.5 v6 auto elite
no fault codes stored (checked with "My Naff Code Reader")

Mileage also helps, the 'dealers' said the 'autobox fluid' was sealed for life, bulls---, so people never checked it's condition or level, worth a go as it will cost very little.

ATF should be changed every 60K IIRC :)
