Jobs and problems
« on: 31 December 2010, 21:12:07 »

Well i thought world domination was next  ;D

Jobs completed today

1) New front disc's n pads (Mintex) fitted n working  :o
(Only cut hand once !!  ::) lol)
2) Reverse light socket fitted n reverse lights now work  ;D

Next job, figure out why i had to stop and refill the water expander, temp light came on and temp gauge at max !
EML now on  >:(
Engine runs like a bag of spanners on tick over, mysterious yellowy watery/oily (??) dripping onto driveway. Can't tell for def where coming from but i'm aware of small oil leak on rocker, got gasket for that job  ;)

No mayo on dipstick or on oil cap.

Yes i'll get it on a coder asap.

Can't remember seeing any oil in the water expander, it was almost clear, with a hint of very very light brown (no antifreeze) before having to refill it.

Right, where to start

Taken plug assembly out

Oil was pouring off  :-?

Took number 1 plug out (nearest to bumper)

At least 2 inch of oil  :o

The spark plug its self is ok, but yes i'll change them once oil problem sorted

Any suggestions  :-?
TIA

I hope you drained the oil out of the well before you removed the plug?  :o

Cam cover gasket needs changing, easy peasy job on the desmond but make sure you use the genuine seal and o rings with the black sealant :y

Into the combustion chambers of the engine - be prepared for lots of blue smoke from exhaust for a while on start up

Yep got nice blue smoke from the car now  :(
lol.

Do you think with the symptoms as mentioned it'll just be the cam gasket alone or the hg also need doing ???

Am just thinking to go the whole hog or not ????

The gasket i got isnt a OE, the code on the packet is VRG.016S, bought from local motor spares shop.
