Hi,
Something doesn't sound right to me on this. Being of a suspicious nature of course.
Before I set out to do mine, I went to Vx main dealer to get price,
was told that did I really wish to know, as it would be more than the car was worth, and recommended to try a garage that specialised in Vx but not dealer, and gave me details. They quoted me £250.00 + part cost.
Tried very local garage all makes, he wouldn't touch it, as he put it, with a barge pole. Suggested another local back alley feller that as soon as I met him I made up my mind that whatever he quoted I wasn't going to take it.
Tried another garage recommended to me, they quoted £350.00 at least.
If you can get it done for that price then by all means go for it, but keep eyes wide open. The saying about peanuts and monkeys springs to mind.
Having done my own in the end and knowing whats involved something seems wrong here.
In a garage with all the most up to date lifting gear, and simply every one of the Vx special tools listed as needed to do the job with no problem, and a couple of persons, it would be a couple of hours work.
From what I can tell, there is a fear of Omegas as nothing but hassle.
But this job is more about having all the gear to do it, than the actual difficulty. Its only much the same as a normal FWD car bearing change job.
