I can't justify running 2 Omega's, I work in London, and get home around 7:30pm most nights.... i have just enough time to maintain 1 Omega, if i keep 2 they will both not get the attention they need.

But like James i am torn between them, in short:

2.2 facelift - much, much smoother ride than the Estate, its more fun when i want to go fast, cause its a manual and i enjoy driving it more, nothing is really wrong with it, had cambelt done 7k ago, new gm zorst and discs with pads recently, new condensor in 2004.. runs fine.

3.0 Estate, goes like stink, HIDs are much better than projectors, i like the bose! The trouble is, when i want to give the drive home a bit of a spanking, i STILL enjoy the 2.2 much more cause its a manual.

I just don't get the satisfcation driving the 3.0, even though it has more power, its dull. Having said that, when i cannot be bothered to drive like i should, the auto is nice!

The estate tends to crash into bumps more, not as refined, although i can take the dog places. But currently i have no heat in it, and the air-con is fubar.

2.2 has done 107k, 3.0 done 186k.

My mind says keep the 2.2.....

Cough.....  actual "real world"  mileage on the estate is somewhat less.....  the original Speedo packed in , and it got swapped out for a £15 ebay job , with the intention of getting a new one "one day, when I have time and a spare £150 quid or so" ......  I never worried too much as  i had no plans to part with it , I loved the thing...  I'm still not really happy i had to either....  despite the new one being a little younger, and slightly nicer..     I'd have kept both if i could afford it !  I was tempted to offer James money instead.....   but wifey threw a wobbler....  

(Mike dundee did trial runs on his speedo trim with my original unit BTW)

For the unofficial record, , and obviously this is no use to you selling it, as it's hard to back up, but if  you take a close look at the MOT mileage records, which hopefully james passed on to you...   he did have them, ,you can easily work out i'd have had to put on and additional 60K+ in a single year.   which frankly I WISH i had ! I LIKE driving these things... but I simply don't spend THAT much time on the road, i'm not a bloody rep...

if you ARE going to get rid, I'd probably like to come to some kind of arrangement over the tow bar &wiring  new car doesn;t have it...

dunno if that's practical or if i should fork out to get a new one fitted.....   it's just a thought...


spend much time driving in London , (like I did today) and you'll WISH you had the auto...  

For motorway, it's actually better economically , especially on cruise control,  and for "Metropolitan" driving, it's SOOO  much easier...  

Ona practical level, i'll NEVER go back to a saloon as my main or only car...    

Show me a saloon you can get a king size mattress IN

(which i did last night....   went and picked up a new one...  JUST got it in the back, although granted i had to move the front seats as far forward as i physically could and still drive ....  )


the ability to carry masses of luggage as well as family when taking daughter to Uni , probably doesn;t impress you... but it's kind of essential here.

tell you what, go find an old 2.8i Capri, take it for a spin, then get back in the elite.

At the mo'id say Markie idea is a good un From a personal point of view
(even though ive not had it long) i should have waited and bought a V6
estate auto for me obviously but you could have the best of both worlds

i keep going back to the estate, being an auto, father & mother tunnie can drive it too.

Plus i can take the dog places.... and when all of us places there is more room, and the 3.0 copes much better with a fully loaded car

are you just looking at the v6 through rose tinted specs cos its 'bigger and better'

Personally, I would keep the Estate, but thats me, I like a practical car.
I'm guessing if the 3 was a manual there would be no decision.

No not topped it up yet  

Once slight problem is i don't think the estate fits in the garage!, not a problem with summer comming i guess.

The door does not go up as high as it should, its ok going in forwards, but because the door is so close and the estate is so high at the back, it catches. I can't back it in, cause the damn door does not go high enough!    

The estate is more practical, and everyone can drive it, and its faster.

But the 2.2 is in better condition, has no rust and runs fine.

Its not a question of fuel costs, they are about the same on fuel. 22mpg  on the estate, 26 mpg on the 2.2

I fill up about once a month at the moment!

Keep the estate and fix the garage door

The estate is probably worth more to you than it would fetch given the extra apparent miles.    Estates are still much more sellable even with huge mileage.    So I'd sell the 2.2 while its still worth something - as that one will be depreciating more.  (I'm not sure how old the V6 is though)
