tunnies 3.2 project (pic heavy)
« on: 23 October 2011, 16:32:39 »

I was asked some time ago to store a 3.2 Saloon in my parents garage, for a certain admin. It had been commented before I saw this car, that it was too good to break. Which was I believe the original plan, when I saw it as well, I concurred, it was far too good to break. Its a 2002 3.2 Elite, but it has to be one of the best I've seen condition wise underneath, it has hardly any rust, anywhere!

Normally these heat shields are rusted to buggery, but they look like new!

Again at the back, zero rust:

Today a lot of work has been done & have to say a big thanks to ChrisGixer & TheBoy for giving up their saturday to help me get this car back on the road.

This is how it looked at the start of the weekend:

Its looks much better now, seats are in:

Body work wise its getting there too:

Pig of a job was removing the chav-me front tints, came off fairly easily but left parts of the glue still on. The sticky stuff remover I got, tbh was a bit rubbish. Mother tunnies nail varnish remover on the other hand did a great job!  :-X

Things left to do:

Few little bumper bits, locking pins and screws here and there.
Needs new front wishbones
New Battery
New lamba as its got a duff one

I'm not impressed with my local tyre place, the Nexen n6000 I had put on, first i spotted the weights fell off. Put wheels on discovered the front drivers side was flat! Pumped it up, left it over night, dropped to 15PSI. Only driven 1 mile back, then stacked wheels in garage, better not be a puncture. Hoping its not taken to the RIM correctly!

Suspension is a mixture at the moment, not decided what I'm going to do, Elite setup will go eventually, as even I find it too bouncy.

Thinking standard MV6  :-\

Certainly is one of the cleanest ones I've seen, nothing really in the usual places around rear doors and wheelarches.

Lamda is a bit of a pain, guess thats why its unplugged.

IIRC, you need to change the aux belt as well, if not done already.

Thinking standard MV6  :-\

That's what I'd do if it can be acquired at a reasonable price. :y

How would it being un-plugged affect running?

Auxbelt, looked at that, looks fine? No cracks in it?

WRT suspension, you need to think what you want.

Cost of LSC springs and shocks probably wouldn't be far off sports springs and B4s.  You need to decide what you want.

If you feel standard Omega is too soft, I don't think the expense of LSC makes enough of a difference to warrant the cost, if that makes sense.

It's looking good, small things like the later textured effect leather make a difference. I've driven that car before, and it went well...look forward to seeing it all done, and it looks much better without the drug dealer tinted windows  ;D
I've got a few facelift parts knocking about here Tunnie, if you need anything pop over and there yours.

As it has Elite front shocks & I have "spare"  ::) SL springs, it makes sense I get a second hand Elite rear SL shocks.

As discussed over curry, use it, see how I get on, then improve as I see fit. Above is cheapest way to complete setup

What about a door pin surround that doesn't rattle.  I know your address, I'll pop round one day when you are out and 'help myself' :P ;D

I think you'll find those SL springs on ebay soon ;).

Can't remember what make they are, Joshwyatt bought them for TBE before I bought that off him.
