can i ask.... this pc brigade thats looking at banning smoking in cars................

is it a government driven scheme? are they the ones who are calling for it?

i doubt that they are.... more like the crappy express and their bunch of sensationalists at the helm trying to make people feel they cant do anything and middle class and law abiding readers believing it.

but i also belive if someone one wants to smoke and it dosnt affect me then they should have the choice.they but money into the goverment, they die quicker so they also save us paying there pensions.

Ah, but you have missed a slight point there. the cost of smoking to the NHS in the form of heart attacks, strokes, cancer and the cost of treating/caring for them is massive. Which is why the NHS and doctors try to get you to stop smoking before its too late.

You may have also missed a point. What is the cost of sports injuries to the NHS? What about the cost of "obesity" to the NHS? What about the cost of stress-related illnesses caused by  government policies?

I say BAN everything.  :y :y

(Mind you, the NHS will still be the inefficient, cash-guzzling monster it always was) ::) ::)

Packet of fags @ say 6.00 quid duty going to the Government say 3.5 quid against an £80 fine. How many people would they need to fine to compensate the sales. Making a law banning smoking in cars will compensate the lost sale from tobacco from the bans already in place IE pubs etc
But you also have to remember that Tobacco is one of the biggest incomes for the government... If everyone in the country stopped smoking tomorrow the country would be bankrupt by Christmas ;)

What a wonderful world you live in!

There aren't enough police to do the job as it is and they can't enforce the current laws (using a mobile whilst driving being my biggest gripe ::)) so how on earth do you think this can be monitored? ???

Trust me on this one, I used to have a pub and I have been in the cctv control room that was used on Friday and Saturday nights for what they call the pub watch scheme. The evidence from these cams was used to convict people from pissing in a doorway to full blown punch ups. They are more than capable of taking clear pics of you sitting in your car having a crafty fag. In fact it was'nt that long ago a taxi driver got convicted of not wearing a seat belt on the evidence of one of these cameras.

And on top of that the enforcement officer used to randomly come round with a devise to measure the air in the bar, this alone could not convict you but they knew which pubs to keep an eye on.
