Changed the cam belt and water pump on the zafira. Poor maintenance on my part as it turned out they were original items  :o.

I was impressed with the bearings in the original items though. The engine had done enough rotations to polish a tiny bit noticable shoulder onto the surface of the rollers, yet the bearings were still smooth and quiet.

I'm still getting old oil deposits out of the coolant though, so another round of engine flush is clearly required. ::)

I was playing the same game yesterday (Wednesday)
new timing belt ,roller & tensioner on one of the astra 1.7 CDTI estates @ 95582 miles ,so just run in  :P
I did replace the water pump ,not that it runs on the timing belt , but it was the original 2005 ,replacement was £14 delivered  :)
the Gates timing belt kit considerably MORE than £14  :D

the Omega got jealous of the attention I gave the astra    ::)
Decided It wanted a new windscreen  :(

Washed and polished it. Hopefully now it's shiny it will stay clean for a bit longer as the dirt won't stick to it.

Also next time the moggy from next door jumps onto the bonnet, he will slide straight off the other side >:D

Drove home from Norfolk in it along with the tin tent 7 glorious days out of 8, again hardly any traffic on the roads.

Found out why there was an air leak on my new air ride struts on the Austin, bloody fault in the weld where the platform goes on the strut. Of course its the one I had to modify and the brackets welded to the bottom to take the Omega hubs would be very difficult to swop so cant send it back. Managed after a bit of faffing to TIG weld it.
