General Discussion Area / Rewiring carputer job Phewwww
« on: 27 July 2007, 22:57:05 »
I had a full day of rewiring my Carputer and screen today what a long time that took just to route aload of wire back to the Boot.

Acouple of you know I had a laptop under my drivers seat to run everything but after putting in my MV6 seats i did not want to be sticking my arm under the seat to turn it on everytime.

So Abit of soldering later i have wired the laptop power button to work off the Traffic Master button, i never used Traffic Master infact found it a pain. One push on and one push off works atreat

I had to route the VGA cable from the Boot to the front also the audio cable to my head unit (this will be replace when I get an Amp)
And routed a Cable For the Radio Ariel as i have a usb FM radio that works throught the computer now also.
Hard wired the Screens Power into the Front Ciggy Light wires and hard wired the Laptops power supply into the Rear Ciggy Lighter.
But found out that my Car power converter for the laptop is knacked spikeing everywhere and giving interferance on the screen and strange sounds through the laptops audio, So Off to Maplins to get a 150Watt Power inverter which is ok as the mains power supply is a constant 70watts well with in limits hope this solves my nasty spikes and errors.

Also Wired a second 12.5 LCD flat screen in that work was throwing out as they had lost the mains power supply fine for me as it ran stright off 12V very handy. Dont know where this is going to go think it will be for the rear passangers if i have any

Carpet all back down correctly after a stuggle.

The one part i have put on hold is the Screen Surround that i was making to make it look factory fitted. It needs to be curved to follow the shape better, Ill need to get a sander to sand down edges and have flush fit.

So all in all took longer than i thought it would but the longest part was routing the cables under carpets and out of sight.

General Discussion Area / Bl**dy CSA
« on: 25 July 2007, 11:53:57 »
Why Are the CSA (child support agency) a bunch of idiots

They have cocked up my payments to my Exwife and now are wanting £700 amonth to cover repayments they have said i can live on £800 a month which is near on impossible to live on in london since my train fare a month is £260 to work alone.

I am very upset with all this one because they are wanting money that i have already paid my ExW but silly me i dont have a receipt for the money i have already given her, like she would give me a receipt god that would have caused arguments. Guess I have learnt my lession the hard way  >:( >:(

Its going to be hard to survive now :( I ready dont want to have to sell me car to pay these idiots for their mistakes.

I have worked out that i would be 100 pounds amonth worse off on the Dole. To be honest at least i would have time on my hands

General Discussion Area / I Am The Camber King
« on: 13 July 2007, 16:34:20 »
Well Or a Lucky Guess More like

Replaced the other Side Top Mount this morning and had to guess the Camber To get it back setup to go over and See  Tony at WIM so I decided that the other side needed  adjusting alittle from replacing the top mount on the other side last sunday.

Tony Thought it would be miles out as did I and Nope it was Spot On What A Fluke for doing both sides of the Camber and getting them Spot On.
Cant Say Much about guessing the tracking Cough Cough As It was Miles out I think Tony said by 2 cm and I measured them against the Old Ones Oh Well. Even Tony was impressed By My Cambering Skills (Lucky Guess's)

So Saved Myself Some Money On Guessing The Camber
Thanks tony For Doing the Full Set Up (Top Man)

New Tires on also so they are all 225 55/R16 now and the Guy Who Fitted Them Was Great Spinned the Rims on their own to see if they were Warped which they were not and Balanced them Right. And span the wheel for more than 2 turns like i have had done at anothr place

I still Have The Knock Boooo and Alittle Vibration Guessing its From that damn Steering Box But I am going To Live With It for Now might have a try and track it down at a meet when ever the next one is

General Discussion Area / A ThankYou To Everyone On The Forum
« on: 13 July 2007, 18:29:22 »
I just wanted To Say A Big Thankyou to Everyone who has helpped or replied to posts in helping me with my Omega problems, I am sure there will be many more to follow  ;D

It Was LaidBack (Dave) Who got me to come here about a year ago from the Dark Side and I would never in a million years of attempted to do anything to car with a spanner if i had not had the help of people on here and the great How 2's.

Now I have Replaced So many things that would of set me back an arm and a leg if i had paid a Garage to do the work. I mean i would of never tried to even think of replacing the Top Mounts on a car but now I can do it Bolts permitting really quickly. From Rear Shocks to Front Discs and Wishbones I am Soooo Pleased.
May Be when its need i will beable to replace my own Cambelt

THANKYOU OOF and the People Who look after This Site and make it possible Thankyou Very Much  :y :y :y

General Discussion Area / Had A Big Shouting Match With VX LOL
« on: 12 July 2007, 13:12:21 »
Phone up Harrow VX again and told them that the 4pot Steering Boxes do not have VARIABLE EFFORT with the Info The Boy gave me
and the guy said that information is wrong the part you need is 24460153 so i am well that strange since on my Steering Box its Part Number 9227772 NON VARIABLE EFFORT And He says loudly I AM THE EXPERT and the Computer says your Chassis Number needs a 9 gear Variable Effort.
they are all the same through the range we have omega limos 4 pot and v6 and they all have the same Box( Strange would not have thought you would get a 4pot limo the engine is to small to pull that about)

So I go through the list that The Boy gave me again

General Discussion Area / 8inch Touchscreen Installing
« on: 07 July 2007, 14:48:39 »
Hiya Chaps

While At the Tidworth Meet Acouple of members were intrested in my in car computer its been an on going WIP for awhile now and I have decided to take it one step further to finishing the idea.

I was getting Sick Of attaching the screen every time i got into the car so i have decided to install the screen permantly so it kind of looks factory fitted.
If in Hindsight I should of bought a 7inch screen as these fit stright into a double din space but they have a strange Res Of 600*480 and not may graphics cards support this res so i went for an 8inch Touch Screen which supports 640*480,600*800 and 768*1024.

Main Problem I had was that it was to big to fit in the Double Din Space so the area would have to be extrended so Out came the Ashtray, I smoke in the Car but i never ever use the ash tray so it was kind of wasted space.

Couple of Picys of how far i have gotten so far

Here is the Screen Taken Out of its plastic cover

Another Image this time of the Surround I measured Out an cut to size I have Found acouple of problems so its Version 1 some areas need sanding to fit better and some areas need extended acouple of mm's I hope to solve these problems in Version 2

Screen and surround together

And Finally the surround in place in the car, as you can see some parts need to be sanded back, and once i am happy with the shape it will be Sparyed the same dark grey to fit in with the rest of the surround.

If I am bothered about having the screen in the car full time that some TeaLeaf might break a window to pull it out I was thinking of proping an AtoZ up in front to look like a map had been left after reading.

So What do you think then ?

General Discussion Area / Full Leather Interior for £70
« on: 05 July 2007, 16:25:07 »
Hiya Chaps I thought Someone might want this.

I bid on a full Leather Interior on Ebay and got to 60 quid but reserve not met email the guy and got him to sell at £70 But its no good for me as I need front seats with Airbags I had some lined up with a member on here but he sold them yesterday GUTTED  :'( my fault i should of bought them and then looked for a back seat

I was going to sell the front seats without airbags but now i would rather wait and see if i can pick the whole lot up which will be easier than buying fronts and backs separate.

Here is the link to the Leather interior if anyone is intrested PM me and ill send you the guys information..

I could put it in mine but it would mean no front airbags and i dont think my insurance would like that and the airbag light would come on  :(

I am not selling this just trying to get a member a bargain

General Discussion Area / BackFire
« on: 24 June 2007, 14:44:48 »
Went To Take The GirlFriend to the Shop Today and something went wrong again only happens when she is in the car  ::)

Pulled away at some traffic lights and put my foot down and the car Backfired on LPG I think the Vap is on its way out any way the EML came on  :-?

Paper Clipped It at the Shop Car Park and the Code 0100 came up and I remembered that this is the MAF sensor so checked the engine and found why it came up with this code.

The Stopper circled in red had blown off with the back fire. Looked in the Engine Bay But its not there  >:( it must of fallen though the engine bay and i could not see it on the way home on the road where the back fire happened

Does anyone one have a spare ? My local Scrappy is rubbish and i dont like going there as they look and talk to me as if i have two heads.

Thanks
Craig
