Omega General Help / Locked out III
« on: 16 February 2008, 13:52:18 »
After following the advice from here & else where, I've always been led to believe that even with a very flat battery you should still be able to get into a dead-locked Omega. I've just tried to get into mine and the car was NOT going to let me in. No matter how hard I tried, the lock was never going to turn. I'm in now though. Mine is PRE face lift I got in via the boot, flipped the boot light out, took the lamp out & put my battery charger across the terminals. Then while I had the alarm farting away at me I then opened the driver's door with the key as normal! I ordered a new battery from Vx a week yesterday, as yet I'm still waiting.  :-?

Omega General Help / sampling fan
« on: 28 January 2008, 23:04:26 »
I've looked via the 'search' facility - honest - but can't find owt. Somewhere there are photos of the climate control's sampling fan, and what might go wrong to prevent the fan from running.
Can any one help? The sampling fan in my miniface lift isn't ....  :(  ;)
I've had my doubts before but after the last few days of motorway driving I've eventually tested mine, with both a tissue & the steam from my coffee (in the service station !!!!!!!! ;)) & it appears to be kf***ed!
TIA

Omega General Help / Electronic Climate Control
« on: 20 July 2007, 12:48:35 »
A couple of weeks back, when we had a week of Summer ;D I put a can of R134a into the system (I know it goes off weight really :-[) as it didn't really get very cold. It now gets nice & cold as you'd expect, however, whether it's my imagination or not but the inside of the car doesn't now seem to be able to maintain the temperature set. I always used to set it at around 19/20 deg but it's now blowing too cold, so you turn it it up a couple of degrees 22/23 and very soon it feels too warm :(. The Senators had a little fan above/behind the glove box that sucked cabin air across thermistors in each foot well so it knew how hot it was and could tweak the temp to suit. Assuming the Omega has a similar set up where will I find the fan please? Guessing would suggest the little vent looking thing on the 'wooden' centre console! :-/
Suggestions please.

Omega General Help / Engine Temp
« on: 28 May 2007, 20:11:30 »
Who tows a sizable caravan with their Omega? What temp does your engine sit at?
I took our 'new' caravan (Lunar Delta 520/2 ... MiRO 1080kgs) out this week end for its maiden journey and have noticed that the engine temp is somewhat higher than normal. I know it's only to be expected to a degree but I now know that the red high temp warning light works!  :-?
My car's temp normally sits at about 95 deg whilst 'solo' but I noticed on Friday afternoon that it was now more like 97/98, but on the way home after a long steep(ish) hill (M65) the temp went up & up to just over 100, which is when I noticed the high temp warning lamp, it cooled down OK to 97/98 when I got on the level.
All 3 cooling fans all ran when I ran the engine up to 97/98 deg on my drive.
Any thoughts?

Omega General Help / Flooded
« on: 04 June 2007, 23:36:51 »
passenger foot well.
Has anyone had one of these that wasn't caused by a blocked drain under the pollen filter? And have you discovered how the water got in? It doesn't look or smell like it's been there that long, and when I used it daily up untill Jan I'd not had particularly badly misted up windows.
I'd discovered yesterday that mine was swimming when I'd lifted the carpet & sound proofing, but I don't really want to take it all out from over the transmission tunnel to allow me to look higher up behind the glove box area.

Omega General Help / 12S socket
« on: 02 June 2007, 14:19:39 »
If any one was to have access to EPC  ;) (mine went AWOL ages back) would they have a look at the accessories section find the Bosal towbar. I'm sure that there used to be a bolt-on bracket for fastening the 12S socket to on the opposite side of the welded 12N socket bracket. We had a look at my local dealer but couldn't find anything. Bosal very kindly sent me FOC a bracket but, I've just tried to fit it and the welded loop for the breakaway cable is in the way really - I need another 1/2" on the width (Ooer Mrs!)
TIA

Omega General Help / Headlights Field/Vision

Any takers as to what puts up the above message on the MID/TID/GID? I've checked the FNS wishbone level switch arm .... and it's still connected. Which side is the rear level switch on - I've self leveling rear supsension so (from memory  :-/) I have a level switch on either side.

Omega General Help / Dexron II or III?
« on: 04 September 2006, 14:47:21 »
I think I know what the answer will be before I ask but ....
Vx's TIS (at the dealers  :) ) says that the gearbox oil - 3.0 auto Elite - should beDexron III 90 510 269 however when you then turn to EPC it says that this part number has been superceded by 90 350 342 which is Dexron II  :-/ So if I change the fluid in the gearbox am I putting in the proper Dexron III from Partco etc or do I put in Vx's superceded part no. & put Dexron II in?
PS After dropping the sump pan and removing 4.4 litres (probably from my drive! :-[ ) what about the remainder in the torque converter?

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / local scrap yard
« on: 17 February 2010, 14:24:51 »
A local scrap yard had a couple of silver facelift saloons in. Front offside damage on one but still has a profector nearside light - intial glance looked OK - passenger mirror still intact - no engine/gearbox. Been lifted with chains through door roof so window frames goosed
T'other is a 2.0 and apart from no bonnet looked OK  :-/
And ...... mini-facelift V6 Elite estate ... bit scabby with a very well worn grey leather interior.
