Any info to the following much appreciated. Upon start up from cold, I'm hearing a high pitched whine/whistle noise for about a minute or so whilst ticking over, could anyone shed any light :question

It is normal for the tension on the belt to vary (and the tensioner to move) as you rotate the engine. I can't comment about how slack it appears to be. Is everything timed up ok when you return it to TDC?

yes everything remains timed up upon turning the engine by hand, and all the timing marks return to the correct positions. I was'nt sure if the pointer is suppose to move whilst everything is rotating, it does move to the right, but then does return left to the (new) notch after a complete turn. The only thing that threw caution my way was, when the engine is running, the pointer on the tensioner is going to be moving to the right and returning left at a high speed, (much like a sewing machine so to speak).Everything is back together and ready for starting up, obviously I have to be 110% sure everything is as it should be before starting her up again, I think I'll have my tea first.

O.k. guy's, I could do with some info here please. Before I start, this is on my 2.0L - 16v X20XEV engine. I've only this morning got round to changing the cam belt kit, removal of old and install of new went o.k.(I think).
I've got it back together, and set the tensioner, and everything is tightened up as it should be. Firstly, whilst turning the engine via the crankshaft pulley centre bolt, whilst there is compression, the timing belt is taught all round, but when I turn it and reach the point where it's pretty effortless to turn, there becomes a little slack in the belt, this is at the right hand side, the left side remains tight, but at the right hand side becomes slacker, to the extent that I could finger pull the belt off the right roller, but again, when there's compression, the belt tightens up all round again.
Also, whilst again, turning the engine via the crankshaft pulley, whilst it's turning, the pointer on the tensioner moves from left to right, is this normal ? or should it remain at the new belt mark where I first set it ?

I'm not so sure
although ians quoted........ - cam cover leak -> oil dripping (common problem)

Just got the miggy back 
after 5 days 
they said it was the cam cover gasket that had gone, hence the oil running down the back of the engine and round the bell housing and dripping off the box (their words not mine). I'm not engine/technically/fault finding minded, although I was wondering how this could cause the box to act the way as explained in my first post. :question

I used to be with the AA, but changed over to the Swinton for breakdown recovery. I've got my Insurance with the Swinton, and they offered me the same breakdown cover as the AA for half the price, so I took it. At the time, I did'nt have the Omega, had and still have Honda Civic, her indoors uses it. This will be a lesson learnt (by me), I've just been on the phone with breakdown recovery, basically asking if they could/would recover the Omega form outside my home to the dealer (2 miles), they said yes, no problem, then they said no 
as it's the Honda that's covered not the Omega. So the lesson learnt is this....... I thought it was me (the driver) that was covered, but they say no, it's the vehicle at the time of taking out the cover, (so much for me reading the small print) 
I'll phone Swinton first thing in the morning and see if ther's a way round it, if not, I dont know if the dealer is obliged to recover it under the warranty :question I dont know.

I phoned the dealer on the off chance and got a reply (she's still under warranty ) dealer advice......... dont drive it (in order to avoid any damage) (I already gathered that) but ! to get it down to them in the morning, Erm!!!!!! How 
?, I'll tackle that one when I get up. Atleast the visual of oil is a start/clue, I'll leave it up to them, hope it's sorted sooner rather than later.

I'm a little unsure of this fault or cause :-/. (My Omega........ 2.0 GLS Auto Facelift)
This afternoon I have done a round trip of about 80 motorway miles, no problems. I parked the car with no problems, then after about 10 minutes, I started her up to go back out, on start up, it revved/ticked over alot quicker than normal, and after a little rev, she seemed to tick over back to normal. Now the thing is, when I engage drive, it seems to engage with a bit of a thud, and the car nudges forward (more than normal) and when I put it back into park, it again will disengage with abit of a thud, and nudge backwards (again more than normal). It's never done this before, no warning lights are lit, and she drives normal as always, but at a junction or stopped at lights, sometimes it does the above, sometimes not. Any help or advice please.

just read a thread in the Test zone which states that if you have the Black projector headlamps from Canada they should fail the M.O.T due to the fact they are for left hand drive Omegas only?
i've just orderd a set over the weekend feeling all chuffed with myself but now i want to blub like a baby

Take yours apart (can be done), spray them black, loads of different black sprays available today, put them back together, sorted, saved yer'self a fortune, and got the result you wanted.
