I told him to give it a good thrash in a lower gear for a few miles on the motorway, which he did but that hasnt solved the problem.
I think he has owned it about 6 months now.

He does a fair amount of motorway type driving in it.
Dont know about servicing as he has only had it a few months.
I would like to get some clues for him as he uses his local friendly garage and I have the distinct impression that they rip him off as he knows nothing about engines.
Plus, he is alone in my family of in laws as being the only one I would piss on if he was on fire, as somehow he has turned out to be a half decent bloke.  :-X ;D

General Car Chat / Vauxhall 1.3 cdti problems.
« on: 16 January 2026, 17:13:57 »
BIL has recently bought a 2018 combo van fitted with the above engine which is giving problems.
Performance is a bit sluggish and light on the dash (EML presumably) comes on and off randomly.
He brought it over to me yesterday and I plugged my Autel reader into it, and it gave three codes.

P0235. turbo boost sensor A circuit.
P0069. Manifold absolute pressure barometric pressure correlation.
P0235. ( pending) turbo boost sensor A circuit high.

Other than sticking a £15 ebay boost sensor on it and hoping for the best, Im a bit clueless as to where to start with this.
Anyone got any better thoughts ?

Tia.

Took the C1 for MOT. It passed with a couple of minor advisories.
Had to pay £40 to have ap air of tyres fitted though.
I begrudge paying it, but my knees cant handle DIY anymore.  ::)

If like me you use trains approx. once a decade, then they are a novelty rather than a cause of annoyance.
As for buses - Im entitled to travel on them free now, but I still avoid them like the plague.
Used one in Romford nearly a year ago and was reminded why I hadnt been on one in over 40 years.
If the good Lord had intended us to use Buses, he wouldnt have invented Driving Licences.  :)

The link to the stainless pipe is very useful as they are difficult to source these days.  :y

Because you then suddenly hear the sound of your own voice and realise you dont sound even remotely like the lead singer of the band you were listening to.  ;D
Not that I have any experience of that type of thing.  :)

Which begs the question - why do we go to all that trouble and replace the Stat with housing as a matter of course ?  ???

Annoyingly I'd already removed the transfer pipe to do it when I tested mine.  ::)

Maybe the pipe still has to be separated from the housing to allow the housing to be turned over far enough to remove and insert the new Stat ?
My memory is so fuzzy !  :-[ ::)

Usual issue though, ime, is lazy Stat resulting in engine struggling to get up to temperature, which doesnt help empeegee figures.
