Having had a fair share of V6's and ran a diesel for the last few months I'd have another diesel tomorrow over a v6. The only thing I miss is the sound and initial speed, everything else it does as well or better than the v6.
As a tow car the diesel is better, more economical and as a general cruiser I'll happily sit and do 500+ mile jouneys in it no bother.
From a maintenance point of view both engines have problems, but what dont?
My td has done 30k miles in 7ish months, its had new leak off pipes and an injector, it needs the exhaust gasket doing and its had a clutch.
It does get serviced every month at the stealers as well!
In my mind its a good car taking into account the use it gets, towing the pikey palace or car trailer, or ask Ian, I can get it wound up pretty quickly!
I've just accepted a job where I'll be doing 80 miles a day, at least I'll have a comfy ride home, and its cheaper than the peasant carridge!
