I love it; only you chaps could turn blood-donation into a competitive sport! ;D

Brings to mind the mental image of pale, exsanguinated blokes crawling out of the donation centres, on their hands and knees clutching half eaten rich-tea biscuits. 8-)

The hyper-donor club motto: "He who bleeds, wins" :D

Ms Debs......The pretty nurse informed me that 470ml is no more than about 13% of total blood.....so even hardened donors are left a drop or two to crawl home with...... ;D ;D :-* :-* :-*

MMm  As Usual, Debs is right. I'm a bit competitive, and after doing 50 odd blood donations (got a very nice pen set for that) I switched to doing platlet donations ('cos you get 2 awards per visit and can donate every 3-4 weeks rather than 3 times  year! ). Whilst main main priority is to 'do my bit', I am enjoying shooting for a high number. Currently upto 81

been donating since a student nearly 40 years ago.  Have known many friedns and associates who have had great benefit form whole blood transmissions.

I find it easy to give, no pain and it flows quickly.  My minor inconvenience has hopefully given a lot to some stranger.

I tried to give blood some time ago and with out saying anything a nurse looked at me and said you need all the blood you've got, I had a major car crash back in the 80s in France and had a blood transfussion which prohibited me from donating!

Still to this day never figured out how the nurse knew :-?
