I'd take it to court. There's no way a judge could convict you with such mitigating circumstances! ;D ;D ;D ;D

That is tight! They must have got to the end of the backlog and found yours waiting!  :o

Some people say that their speedo's 'over-read' but upon checking through the 'flash-up' signs they seem to spark up at 31mph on my astra  :-?

I got spotted by a camera van last year doing 72 in a 50. Got away with it too. Having been done before I have read up on a few things. I turned my car around and parked 150 metres in front of the offending Talivan (They terrorise motorists) and got my phone out. I took video footage of me walking towards the van then took pictures of how it was parked. He was on a zigzag yellow school bay. When I was aked what I was doing I asked him about the absence of a speed camera warning sign which should be 100 yards in front of the camera (there was none, Also none for 25 miles on that stretch of road). He didn't know the answer. He also asked me why I was taking pictures of his van. I told him he was parked illegally and I'll delete my picture if he deleted his.

38 in  a 30 zone which 15 years ago was national speed limit, then 4 years ago reduced to 40 then 2 years ago reduced to 30. All because it is road past posh peoples houses.
I was caught by a PC holding a gun and was invited into his van for a chat. He seemed very nervous to begin with as he was alone and I am 6' 4" and 17 stone.(I think he thought I could be trouble, but I am a gentle giant) But I new I was speeding and admitted it stright away and as I new the speed limit was offered the more expensive half day speed awarness course which I took, initially to avoid the points but later it has proved to me to work as I now don't speed in built up areas. I find the cruise control brilliant for not speeding.

In the end the PC and I where talking quite openly and I think he hated catching people with a speed gun, he would much rather have a "presence" on the street.
The PC was a nice chap and in the end I bare the Police no malice for catching me speeding, I was in the wrong. And I have learnt from it.

I do find the speed cameras to be the governments way of raising money and criminalising generally law abiding people while letting the real criminals loose to do what they like.
This is not the fault of the Police it is the fault of the government.

Sorry for being so long winded.

Mike

P.S. I am not connected in any way to the Police, and do not no a Police Officer in my work or social life, but sometimes wish I did.

Sorry but I think its £60 and 3 points for you... >:(
Unfortunately the police are getting people for 'just over' the speed limit now. Also as someone else said perhaps they needed to get their numbers up and you were one of the highest of the 'just overs'.
Bad luck, just hope you get offered the course instead of the points!

is there any excuse i can use to get out of paying a speeding fine??? 35 in 30 limit area. have to fill form in tomorrow.

richie
Alas, although right on the limit of what they well issue one for, its still a fair cop, and hence you should just pay it imho.

Considering that your speedo will read slightly over as well, and presumably you knew the local speed limit, there is no excuse really.

I'd say that the majority of us break the speed limit occasionally, but we do it knowingly (if we didn't, we are poor drivers), and its a risk we take when we do it.

If there were easy get-outs, then speed limits would be pointless.

Andy B - you really want to pay less attention to the media, they are there to sensationalise everything.

I suspect proportionally that as many sons get off from such things whose dads ain't plod ;)

Never admit to speeding never take the points never pay the fine. In your case picture would of been taken from back of your car, if you have no major scratches distinguishing marks or anything like that on your car then couple of things you have to do, change the colour of the nuts that hold your number plate on the car even buy another number plate from fancyplates.com in say honeycomb or 3d effect which is legal, more extreme you can even put a mark on your car a scratch on bumper nothing to drastic mind, but most of all get a couple of people to say they where with you at the time of the alleged offence and simply say your car must of been cloned. Sounds far fetched but trust me it works as the evidence is on your side. Dont give in i have 0 points on my licsence and drove a subaru for a couple of years so as you can imagine got pulled and stopped every other day!!!

Additionally, Andy B, I work with an ex-plod, and he has been nicked for speeding when he was still in the force.  This guy is always one full of conspiracy/corruption theories, but has always said that his old employer was pretty clean - obviously in all areas of life, you get a couple of individuals....
