38 in a 30 zone which 15 years ago was national speed limit, then 4 years ago reduced to 40 then 2 years ago reduced to 30. All because it is road past posh peoples houses.
I was caught by a PC holding a gun and was invited into his van for a chat. He seemed very nervous to begin with as he was alone and I am 6' 4" and 17 stone.(I think he thought I could be trouble, but I am a gentle giant) But I new I was speeding and admitted it stright away and as I new the speed limit was offered the more expensive half day speed awarness course which I took, initially to avoid the points but later it has proved to me to work as I now don't speed in built up areas. I find the cruise control brilliant for not speeding.
In the end the PC and I where talking quite openly and I think he hated catching people with a speed gun, he would much rather have a "presence" on the street.
The PC was a nice chap and in the end I bare the Police no malice for catching me speeding, I was in the wrong. And I have learnt from it.
I do find the speed cameras to be the governments way of raising money and criminalising generally law abiding people while letting the real criminals loose to do what they like.
This is not the fault of the Police it is the fault of the government.
Sorry for being so long winded.
Mike
P.S. I am not connected in any way to the Police, and do not no a Police Officer in my work or social life, but sometimes wish I did.
