I'm ok i dont pay road tax am exempt    ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Can I ask why or is this just a wind up, or disability. Are diabled tax free cars completly exempt from this ?

Yup....[/quote]

That is completly bl00dy unfair, and I don't swear.
Oh and before I get accused of being some kind of fashist, my Grandfather was disabled from the age of 23, so I grew up with a disabled relative living with us, so I do no the problems.
why ????

Because the disability scheme is the most abused benfit in this country.
About a year ago did a job in a road with no parking apart from a disabled bay, man goes to work every day driving his car from his personal disabled bay, he was not disabled, his 10 year old son was picked up each day and dropped off each day by taxi.
The chap who bought my last car was born with one hand missing, told me has never worked a day in his life and laughed.
OK two bad cases there are many legitamate cases. but why should a disabled person be able to drive a car bought by the taxpayer in many cases (motability), and not be even concerned about the emissions his car produces. And more importantly his decision to buy a car is just "what make and model" The rest of us now have to consider costs way beyond our control. Petrol cost if I don't like it I buy a small engine or do less miles, a choice. Insurance, many companies to choose from with varying levels of cover, a choice. Road Fund Licence, for low mileage people, like me I cannot justify £400+ to this rip off government, no choice but small car.

You would loose far more in depreciation on a replacement car than it would cost in car tax....

i believe disabled people can have a car or disability benifit but not both.but more importantly in a country as rich and highly taxed as this one,if my money is going to be spent for me then i am more than happy for it to be spent on genuinely disabled people.you do have a point though about people abusing the system and it makes me angry.it doesnt just take the p155 out of the taxpayer but also the genuinely disabled.i was told by a doctor that the criteria to qualify is that you must be unable to walk more than 300 metres and i personally know 2 people who recieve disability benifits who regularily walk miles

Because I was working the same road for about 2 weeks and spoke to many of the neighbours, and as I was wearing a yellow reflective jacket, carrying electronic equipment and making notes, the neighbours thought I had come to check on this particular individual.

The neighbours hated him, as they considered him to be....... I won't say anymore.

One of my neighbours is class as disabled, whilst he was driving his 17 ton lorry a few years ago he had to swerve to miss a cyclist, as he did he hit the kerb, the steering wheel spun and he broke his thumb...after many months of being assessed he was classed as being 14% disabled as he only had 90% use of his thumb.............he now has a mobility car, his own space and a badge to park where he likes............now you rather tell me where that is fair............rather system is bent. >:( >:( >:( >:(

That's great, my 67 year old father fell off his BSA 2 years ago and broke his thumb, I must get him to apply for the tax on wife's car.
Seriously he does have a "disabled thumb" but he his not disabled and has no intention of trying to become so.
So sell the Volvo or give the government £400+  hmmm I would rather shove £400 one pound coins up gordons back passage.

Something not quite right there, a thumb would not affect mobility, unless there is some other uderlying reason.
It is not the GP who decides mobility benefit, it is a difficult process.
Some conditions qualify, no questions asked sort of thing, as you would expect.
I have a mobility car but if you were to see me you would not say I was disabled, this can make life even harder. I work full time and I do not have a personal parking space, even at work.
I see a lot of abuse of the blue badge, mainly by parents of disabled children who will use this even without the child. They will use the car, without the child and unless they are doing direct business in regard to the child then they should not even use the car.
It is a big issue, so here endeth my 2d.  :)

Mike...i dont disagree with mobility being given to those who need it but i can assure you this chap on my street does not warrant what he gets.he openly brags about what he gets.........my point is that it is abused by a lot of people....who assesses these people

Dear Mike
I no I have said some pretty horrible things, please do not take it that I am against disabled people. My grandfather spent the best part of his life in a wheelchair. I must have pushed that chair miles in my teenage years, and yes that was during the late 70s and peoples views then where very different to now. Many so called respectable people had no idea how to behave around my grandfather.
It was fantastic how he could put doctors nurses etc. in there place with such eloquence.
People like my grandfather fought for this country. I am sure he is now saying why did we bother.

Mike
