i believe disabled people can have a car or disability benifit but not both.but more importantly in a country as rich and highly taxed as this one,if my money is going to be spent for me then i am more than happy for it to be spent on genuinely disabled people.you do have a point though about people abusing the system and it makes me angry.it doesnt just take the p155 out of the taxpayer but also the genuinely disabled.i was told by a doctor that the criteria to qualify is that you must be unable to walk more than 300 metres and i personally know 2 people who recieve disability benifits who regularily walk miles
One of my neighbours is class as disabled, whilst he was driving his 17 ton lorry a few years ago he had to swerve to miss a cyclist, as he did he hit the kerb, the steering wheel spun and he broke his thumb...after many months of being assessed he was classed as being 14% disabled as he only had 90% use of his thumb.............he now has a mobility car, his own space and a badge to park where he likes............now you rather tell me where that is fair............rather system is bent.

Something not quite right there, a thumb would not affect mobility, unless there is some other uderlying reason.
It is not the GP who decides mobility benefit, it is a difficult process.
Some conditions qualify, no questions asked sort of thing, as you would expect.
I have a mobility car but if you were to see me you would not say I was disabled, this can make life even harder. I work full time and I do not have a personal parking space, even at work.
I see a lot of abuse of the blue badge, mainly by parents of disabled children who will use this even without the child. They will use the car, without the child and unless they are doing direct business in regard to the child then they should not even use the car.
It is a big issue, so here endeth my 2d.
