kate. Let me know what you do, and times etc. I could pop up and take a photo or two and get ahead and maybe take one as you pass under a bridge.

Would it be alright if we delay the transport and repair on my mig?

The problem is that I don't have enough money to pay all the fuel costs.   I think I would have to pay Guy about £180 for diesel.  Then I would have buy a train ticket to Shifnal and the fuel costs home, probably another £100 I guess.

I really appreciate your help! Thanks! :y

I would seriously consider the Green Flag option, then the car is here, we can get it done and you can just pick it up when you like, doesnt matter if it stays  at mine for a couple of weeks :y, i think i have the room ::)

Well I've got good news I think.  My friend told her friend about my car and she knows someone who does car repairs.

She got this guy to come and have a look at the mig and he said that he would be able to do the head gasket.  He said he would do it for £200.   He did seem totally genuine when he came.

He hasn't worked on migs before but he has done the head gasket on a V6 Ford engine.

He took my manual to read and he going to get back to me.

He looked at the mig for two hours trying to figure out if it was the head gasket or not.  He said it could possibly be a core plug but I have never heard of those.

I'll let you all know what happens.

Thanks for all your help you have all been so great. :y

New to this thread but Kate i would SERIOUSLY considor taking the option up of OOF fixing this before letting a novice mechanic who has to read a manual to fix it.

Before you know it the bill may go up and up as the car fails to run as it should. The best knowledge of all things omega is on here !

Forgive my ignorance -- do they still have core plugs on modern lumps -- ie are they still made the same old way??  Had a few of those go in my youth ( looong time ago)... in those days a tuppenny bit would fit nicely !

It's so far to Shifnal though and he is experienced, in his fifties.  He just hasn't worked on migs before. :-*

In which case he wont be up to it as you must have the cam locking kit to re-fit the belt.
