I would also whole heartedly recommend Bikesafe [ http://www.bikesafe.co.uk/ ]    ......

No Manchester or Lancs  :-?  :(

It's something I've thought about a few times. Passed test 1980, & rode a 250 for a few years ...... fast forward 25 yrs .....  :-?

And if you jumped on a bike today you are simply an organ doner......

No Scottish forces either but I know that they all partake......

Its worth it.  Really opens your perceptions and horizons and does make you a safer rider.......   ;)
Couldn't agree more. You wouldn't go out and attempt to drive an artic without proper training, and your'e a damn sight safer in one of those. As I have said in a previous reply take some extra training, it will make you a better, quicker more confident rider. The training in our area was run by the bike section of Durham Police and the IAM and it was excellent, you only pay the observer for their petrol as they are volunteers, its for nowt!!!! I completed the course and test and definitely rode better and still am more observant as a car driver.

Had the CBT today, but have to go back on Monday to complete it...

The instructor pulled me to the side a few times said I can have a break while the others carry on, said I was doing pretty well and picking it all up pretty quick!

Was quite an experience having to use the rear brake while pulling off or doing some maneuvers, certainly took some getting used to!  Still, only stalled it about 3 times all in, so not bad :D

Only reason I have to go back on Monday, is another instructor got smacked in the rear at a stop junction outside the instructors center.  He stopped as there was traffic, and a van just went straight into the back of him without slowing or looking.  Still, nothing too serious, just a few bumps on the instructor, bust indicator on the bike and some other bit fell off!  Main thing tho he isn't seriously injured or anything!

But yeah, pretty ace experience :)  Can't wait to do the actual on-road part now, and then work towards the DAS and test  :y

Jay Leno, American comic and chat-show host has his own idea of a 'special' `bike!  8-)

Cheers all  :y Will let you know if I balls up Monday or not  ;D

They have a little 125cc bike for sale at the moment too, so might buy that tomorrow as least I'll have something to commute to uni and back on while still working towards the test, and also while I'm saving up for the Triumph!

Well, ended up getting a Honda CG125 instead of a Suzuki (was sold...)  Found a Caberg Justissimo GT which actually fits!!  £149 tho... and as I spent all my budget on the bike, it's going to be a few weeks till I can get the helmet, gloves and insurance...  Still :)

Bloody ache like a swine though today!  Left leg mainly, arms a bit, right leg a lil bit...  Worth it tho!

Best thing about a CG125 is that its a 4 stroke - so no dikkin about with 2 stroke mix.   ......and theres loads in the breakers if you happen to send it along the road.....   :y

I had one which was LFS944T (1978 vintage...) from which I sold the plate for a few hundred quid on its own.  Probably now sitting on a scrapped Porker 944T somewhere!   ;D

Similar size/weight bike to the Honda CG125, yet the honda has more power. Don't think you could thrash them... have enough trouble keeping pace  ;)
