We used to have an Alsatian who loved to sit in the middle of the back seat watching where she was going. The best bit was the way she used to lean into the bends like a seasoned bike rider.

Ideal just need to put something underneath to prevent damage to the leather and to stop sliding about.. There will be 2 people in the rear with the dog so should be okay with that harness thingy.

Some cars arm various airbags if the seat belt is plugged in
A very good reason not to put the dog in the front seat with a passenger

Alternatively buy a cloth seat base and fit that

i use a med dog transport cage to carry my cat ozzy about enough room to stand and turn around + room for a litter tray

And to answer a question with a question. If being transported on a plane or train where would it be.
Therefore what is wrong with the boot secured in one of these. It's a dog not a child, would not be "in" any of my cars.
By the way I do like dogs.

Just put the dog in the car and be done with it
