Jeebus that's cheap .. I had a quote once upon a time for a similar size garage; £25k.. the lowest was £14k if I didn't want a door! Labour is expensive..

I had quotes of between 16-20k to build it - so decided to do it myself, it took me about 4-5months but I've saved about 15k - or more to the point I wouldn't have been able to do it if I paid someone else.

Something that a lot of my friends have commented on is what a good idea having roller doors at both ends is - as the garage is the width of the garden is means I can still easily get large stuff through to the house.

I've built my own garage recently - 6x4m with an 8ft roller door at one end and a 6ft roller door plus a regular door at the other...  total bill is about £3,900

That is doing everything myself so no labour costs.

Sounds good  :y My dad is a brickie so i will see what he thinks to that price , is that price including both doors  :-\

Yep - the front 8ft door is an electric roller (£420) - the back roller is a manual one (£250) , the UPVC pedestrian door I got on eBay for £40  :)

If I could have got planning* I'd probably have gone for a garage big enough to block garden access, as you have, in which case I'd have stuck a big door in the side for the same reason  :y

*As it was I was too scared of the planning process and too broke to afford the quotes for the garage! So I ended up with a sub building regs sized concrete monstrosity ;)

Sounds good , if i have one built will just have a normal door on the back leading into the garden so this will be the only access to the back making it secure . Garage will probably be garage and half size  :) Roofing mite be a challenge but would rather have a sloping roof than flat .

I built a flat roof, but covered it using EPDM rubber - one piece to cover the entire thing so shouldn't ever leak - was about £280 including all the gutter trims etc.

UPVC Fascia trims were £70 roughly from a local window place to go right the way around

I get back from a week away, and some bricks have been laid :).

This morning, the beams for the floor turned up, and the blocks are due this afternoon :)
