Watchdog is a good place to talk about problem companies, bet the are a few complaints up and down the country from various people.

Maybe worth contacking them to see if they have a file on "Campsites"

Firstly a massive thanks to Chopsdad for organising it again.  It really was an enjoyable weekend, very worthwhile.

The dozy daughter who was left in charge had been getting on my wick since my arrival on Tuesday.

On arrival, I said we were supposed to have the overspill field so we could be all together.  She said no, as she wanted us all together, so would squeeze in the main camping field (?!).  I couldn't get it in to her head.  I suggested throwing some leccy cables over from caravan field into overspill field, but she said no as she had booked some vans in down that end of van field. Then we agreed that those needing leccy would be in main field, and non leccy in overspill field, which then seemed like best compromise. Next day, she said as they were so busy, they would put non leccy members in main field.  Upon trying to explain the (lack of) sense in that, she said she had the room.  Then she said she'd keep non OOFers away from us, then prompted put a load in right next to us.

The stupid woman changed her story every single day (and I was there 6 days), and every time I told her that was not what we had previously agreed, she just started moaning.  The women who run the site obviously have no organisational skills, are too greedy, and the pair of them are either bad liars, or a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic.

As with last year, any plan went out of the window in an attempt to squeeze in any tent to make a few more quid.  Obviously the facilities are not good enough for this.  The main block has 3 crappers, 3 showers and 3 sinks (presumably ladies have 3 of each as well?), which simply isn't enough for the number of people they are catering for (and we were lucky that a group of about 20-30 people staying were away for that weekend, else it would have been much worse).  Quite clearly, the electrics couldn't cope either.

One day, the daughter was moaning that people were buying bigger tents now.  That shows the greed of the family that run it.

Re the Lakes visit.
Granted we were a bit late on leaving Burns Farm this afternoon - about 4 o'clock, but as we were heading back to the 'van Linda was marching across the fiel to unplug us because we were 'stealing her electric' & apparently we owed her another £8!
I sent a £10 deposit way back, and when I turned up, I said who I was to her daughter(?) who then asked for another £10. As far as I was concerned that was that. To then be screemed at across the field 'cos we apparently then owed more money really p***ed me off.
It's perhaps a good job that we're banned next year, not that I think we'd want to go back, cos Burns Farm seemingly needs to go on communications & organisation course so the left hand knows what the right hand is doing. As far as Linda was aware, we were going to use the field on the other side of the wall from where the 3 caravans & Mark(Chopsdad?) were pitched, but we all pitched where the daughter(?) told us on 3 seperate sections of the site.
Considering the number of paying customers in tents on the 2 or 3 pitches at the opposite end of the site I don't think that Burns Farm did too badly out of the week end despite of us 'stealing' some electric!
hi dont worry about it i live in that neck off the woods and good friends of mine run a campsite at the other end of bassenthwaite lake and you would be more than welcome,he also runs a garage and bodyshop on the same land.so if any repairs need done its on hand,i hope this helps, bighuck :y

Thanks Bighuck...if plan b doesn't come off - which will be kept under wraps until I have it watertight and foolproof (so no campsite owners please) this may be a good alternative.

How west cumbrian are you then - Marra or Jameater?

She can lay no blame with us......if the no shows are a problem that is her buisness model that is at fault by not requiring a deposit to book a pitch.

As for the electric tripping, it concerned me as there is clearly little or no descrimination because if a fault in a single user connection had occured it should have tripped the ELCB or MCB in the hookup box....th fact it tripped the main feed sudgests that the install is sub-standard and being run continuously at max load.....

Exactly, while understanding being pissed at a lot of no shows, it wasnt OUR fault.
The farmer said if it was load, the local ones would blow, so must be a fault on someone's gear.
Also reckoned it was someone who arrived at about 8pm.

Exactly.

Although each hookup had a 6A in, whats the betting that the main trip was also 6A.

Lets face it, most of us were using a few hundred milliamps to power a fridge/coolbox

Shows what little he knows, the feeds had ELCB's and MCB's....any fault should take out those if it was installed correctly....

Correctly connected, should pop the nearest trip, not main ones.

Why not ask the HSE, Trading Standards and the Inland Revenue round for a fun weekend.  I'll pay the deposit  ;)
