The Democratic political world is walking a tight rope with Dictator Putin. One mis-calculation and we have WW3, but perhaps that is part of the direction we must go in. What else will stop Putin, but military might?
The painful reality is we cannot sit by and do nothing really effective against the Russians whilst innocent Ukrainians die horribly. History has taught us what happens if the Democratic countries do nothing.
On the point of history, has anyone else you been watching the BBC2 documentary on
The Rise of the Nazis ?
Now there have been many, many, documentaries I have watched on this subject, along with numerous books and papers read, and listening to academics talking about what progressed from the 1920's.
But this series is different. It is an analysis more about the reasons behind the
fall of the Nazis and Hitler in the last years of WW2., which
could give an academic suggestion on what could happen in the context of Ukraine.
In particular Episode One,
Stalingrad, is extremely fascinating with an expert analysis of the nature of both Hitler and Stalin; the nature of dictators and their weaknesses that lead eventually to their downfall due to trusting no-one, especially relevant when considering Adolf Hitler. In fact if you apply the lessons learned from the actions of Hitler in regards to Stalingrad and his puppet commander, General, finally Field Marshall Paulus you can
possibly see how Putin could well fail in his gamble to take Ukraine and it's capital, with the people of that nation fighting to the death for their land, their rights, their democracy.
Just put the element of NATO military action in place, with perhaps just air power, and the dominoes could all fall down for Putin and his army, that apparently is now desperate for back up from mercenary fighters and has suffered significant losses already, including those three generals.
We can only pray and hope, and God Bless the Ukrainians and their fighters
