Many, many years ago, when people were paid weekly by cash, I used to phone the payroll breakdown through to the bank, and then collect the money the following day.
One week, as I was making up the wage packets, I thought, the tenners aren't going down very fast.
Ended up with £2K of tenners over, was very tempted, but being ther honest individual I am

, I phoned the bank to tell them.
They asked me to bring them straight back! Sorry, but if you want them, you'll have to come and get them, not my mistake!
Anyway, the bank manager himself trurned up.
I asked him if he'd got any identification.
But you know me, he says.
You know me, I replied, but you ask me for identification every week, can't hand it over without identification.
Made him squirm for a bit, and handed it over.
Never got asked for ID, again, and, they gave me £100 for being honest.
